Timberlake will host the event, to be held in Copenhagen this year

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are the band to beat at this year's MTV Europe Music Awards, with nominations in four categories including best album.

Christina Aguilera, Madonna, Shakira and Nelly Furtado are up for three awards, as are Kanye West and Muse. Justin Timberlake will host the 2 November event, to be held at the Bella Center Conventional Hall in Copenhagen before an audience of 3,000 people.

An additional 10,000 are expected at Copenhagen's Radhuspladsen Town Square. The Chili Peppers' rivals in the best album category include Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor, Aguilera's Back to Basics and Furtado's Loose.

The rock group are also up for best group, rock act and song.

'Amazing night'

British acts in contention include best group nominees Keane, Robbie Williams - up for best pop act - and Mercury Prize winners the Arctic Monkeys, shortlisted in the 'alternative' category.

The Monkeys are also up for best UK and Ireland act alongside Corinne Bailey Rae, the Kooks, Lily Allen and Muse. "It's going to be an amazing night," said Timberlake in a statement. "I'm working on several ideas with MTV at the moment and there are some great new interactive parts to the show."

The former 'N Sync member is scheduled to perform at the event, as are Nelly Furtado and Muse.

I do have it, although I ain't played it for ages because if you listen to it for more than 20 minutes you think the cd player is fucking around because it sounds like the same song over and over and over and over and over, like a monkey with a miniature cymbal, the joy of repetition really is in you.

If they could out the crap to put it onto 1 disc, than it would be a good album

So your saying liking radiohead, muse, coldplay, the beatles, RHCP's By The Way Era is saying that all those bands are rubbish.

Fine by you :P

But the fact remains that Stadium Arcadium is one of the mose overrated albums of the year, even more overrated than the Arctic Monkey's album.

And also the fact remains that the European Music Awards which was supposed to be for European Artists don't mean sod-all nowadays.
