**Augustana**
They deserved their own thread.

Pretty much one of the most awesome bands around. :D

Anyone know who they are? Anyone see them with Snow Patrol? Anyone going to see them with Snow Patrol? How about with The Fray, or The Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows? Don't be shy, folks! 8D

September 20th! Snow Patrol and Augustana here in Seattle!

I saw them live with the Goo Goo Dolls/Counting Crows in June! They were cool! I fell in love with the song Boston! :)

Boston is an awesome song, but I prefer a few others. I like Wasteland and California's Burning and Sunday Best... and Lonely People... and pretty much the whole album is fantastic.

My friends went to the Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows concert and they just missed Augustana... one of my friends was really pissed off! Lol!

I've also met their bassist. He's so sweet. :]

Augustana are a young band, having just released their major label debut, All the Stars and Boulevards, on September 6, but they have been successfully touring all summer with bands like the Goo Goo Dolls and Counting Crows. With moving vocals and powerful instrumentals, Augustana stands out from today’s pop music with a classic, accessible sound.

Characterized by beautiful melodies that are often driven by haunting piano lines, Augustana has drawn favorable comparisons to monster piano rockers Coldplay. Driven by excellent reviews, a top 20 video on VH1 for their hit single "Boston," and a sold out special edition CD at Best Buy, Augustana have proven to be a band to take seriously.

A simple and classic success story, Augustana was founded by frontman Dan Layus at Greenville College in Greenville, Illinois. Before graduating, Layus decided to take his shot at fame and moved to Los Angeles. The band signed with Epic Records and are currently touring with Snow Patrol in support of their debut album.

I don't have the rerelease, damn! I must order it.

I should give everyone Heart-Shaped Gun. They took it off their MySpace.

I'm so glad Augustana's getting big!!

I know it might not be much, and it makes me feel like a kid again with TRL, but I try to vote once a day at VH1's the V spot. I usually vote SP in first, then Augustana at 2. I hope it helps! tomorrow I will vote twice and put them first.;)

The thing with Augustana is that most people know the song Boston but not the band. Such a shame, they're such sweet guys. :]

I promised the Snow Patrol threadders the picture of me and Jared (bassist for Augustana). If you want to see it (and a most unflattering me) let me know. Jared looks excellent in it.

Been a few months, but I still love the album. Wish I were going to see them with the Goo Goo Dolls. I'll just have to live with the report my cousin will have when she gets back.

So I just bought All The Stars and Boulevards. I must say, they are far better than I had originally expected. Boston and Stars and Boulevards are my favs, of course, but I also found that Bullets, Feel Fine, Wasteland, and Sunday Best were excellent as well. The rest are growing on me :)

I haven't been around, but I have news.
I saw these guys for the third time on January 13th and met their bassist for the second time. The best part is he recognized me (I'd been saying hello to him all evening whenever I could. XD). Every time I see them it makes me like them all the more. They throw some of the best concerts ever.
I posted some videos of the concert on my YouTube account (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Lifelike). I have two more I have yet to post.

Enjoy! <3

Aww. That's great news for you! I remember seeing the bassist at the bar the night they opened for Snow Patrol. He was chatting with people and having a good time. Seems like a friendly guy! What's his name again? I really wish I were seeing them again! Thanks for the videos!

Surprisingly, I didn't find out about Augustana through Boston. I just bought their CD off iTunes on a whim. I'm so glad I did. <33333

If anyone wants any b-sides, I have a couple. :D

Oh, VH1, sage of modern soft-rock radio, what is in your crystal ball?
The channel that has introduced the populace to such artists as Regina Spektor and Paolo Nutini is also giving you a double-thumbs up on San Diego's Augustana.

The band makes radio-riffic, hooky, alt-rock, and there's a good chance you've already heard its single "Boston" somewhere.

If this sounds up your alley, you might want to get there early, as the palatable UK act Vega4 will be opening up. Vega4 is kind of like a cross between Snow Patrol and Coldplay and worth checking out.

Also playing will be the UK singer-songwriter David Ford, whom we really can't say much about except he's sad and writes acoustic songs trying to convey that to you.

The all-ages show is Wednesday at Club Congress, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.. Tickets are $16.50, available online at virtuous.com.

Yay!
Funny thing, as Vega4 played their set, I said, "Wow, they sound a lot like Snow Patrol! I really like that."

Ahhh I'm so glad Augustana is getting good reviews... they definitely deserve it!

They're how I became a big fan of Snow Patrol! They opened for SP and I went to see Augustana but was in for more of a treat than that! Incredddddible set. At one point, it got very quiet before they played, so I shouted out how much I loved them. It was awesome.
