Tag without options:

Rule:

url_of_the_file[/me dia]

Examples:

[media]http://server/file.mp3[/me dia]
Shown as a mp3 player (Use the flash mp3 player by default).

Tag with options:

Rule:

[media="width, height, autostart, loop, extension"]url_of_the_file[/me dia]
[media="width, height, autostart, loop"]url_of_the_file[/me dia]
[media="width, height, autostart"]url_of_the_file[/me dia]
[media="width, height"]url_of_the_file[/me dia]

Examples:

[media="300,380,yes,2,rm"]http://server/file.mp3[/me dia]
It will use the real player to play the file.mp3,
the object is 300px width, 380px height,
it will autostart and will repeat for twice.

[media=250,150,0,3]http://server/file.flv[/me dia]
It will use the flash player to play the file.flv,
the object is 250px width, 150px height,
it'll NOT autostart but will repeat for 3 times.

[media=400,480,false]http://server/file.swf[/me dia]
It will use the flash player to play the file.swf,
the object is 400px width, 480px height,
and it'll NOT autostart.

[media=421,211]http://server/file.pdf[/me dia]
It will post the pdf object on the page,
the object is 421px width, 211px height.

Other rules:

1. WIDTH and HEIGHT are both required if you want to add options;
2. Available values for the AUTOSTART option: 1 , yes & true.
3. Separate the options with commas.

The MediaPlayer allows media to be streamed directly into the messageboard, without the need for all other browser windows open. I don't know how to save the videos yet... unless someone else does?

Oh.. I just noticed the "Click Here to Download".. so I guess it can be saved depending on where the link is originally hosted.

no, the link is ok

but if you want to attach files from RS, you have to give the direct links, for example:

BUT!

Hm.. i still can't make it work.

so it kind of almost works but then not quite!

oh, and i've tried that with vids from youtube --> always the same problem

I'm beta testing a new media player, compatible with all of the following (see list). If there are any you regularly use here on Coldplaying drop me a reply here and I'll see about adding it for you :)

At time of counting this, there are about 170 sites supported. But I have only included a few common standards as default (yahoo, youtube, myspace, google and Amazon). Allows user to simply 'paste' in a URL (i.e. a youtube link) without needing to know any special tags. However instead of displaying just the URL, it will show the media within the post.

Ian how can you know what type of player a site uses? I've tried to post avideo from this site once or twice:
