I live in an area of great venues (Prudential Center, Izod Center, MSG, Giants Stadium) but none of them are having any good concerts in the near future. :bigcry:

I just hope that my favorite bands start touring soon because I really love concerts

So since the beginning of May I've seen: Scouting for Girls, The Hoosiers, The Kooks, Kinema, The Vaccines, The Naked & Famous, LCMDF, The Sound of Arrows, Ed Sheeran, Redtrack, Twin Brothers, SUUNS, Oh Land, Holy Ghost! Miami Horror, James Vincent McMorrow, Get People, Sacred Animals, Two Spot Gobi (x2), Shake Aletti and Braids.

I'm going to see (as in I have tickets for): Foo Fighters, Noah & The Whale, Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Friendly Fires, Brandon Flowers, Bombay Bicycle Club, Ed Sheeran, Fenech-Soler and The Wombats.

I might buy a ticket to see White Lies again in December. And depending on how the summer goes I may see Friendly Fires again too. :wacky:

Went to the Detroit Electronic Music Festival (Movement) over the Memorial Day weekend, and saw Flying Lotus. Pretty good, but unfortunately it was getting drowned out by the stage all the way over on the other side of the venue, where Fatboy Slim was performing.

And some of the wardrobe choices were rather interesting during the 3-day festival.

Was just 2 weeks ago. Didn't understand all the FTP hype, but according to some friends I talked to who are big fans and had seen them before, that particular day was a weak performance by them. They're still fresh on the festival scene and aren't used to road wear-and-tear yet.

Do you have Heineken Greenspheres gigs in the UK?
They did a White Lies gig, a Florence and the Machine gig and a Passion Pit gig here within less than a year (which I think is pretty good cause bands rarely play here). And they were all for free.

I like how my schedule for the first two days was practically identical to yours. :laugh3: (in fact, I'm pretty sure my Saturday was 100% identical)

I did . Was waiting for Coldplay, which was 110% worth it, because I think that was the best I'd ever seen them, music-wise.

Haha! We probably saw each other somewhere along the way. Saturday was my relaxed "go with the flow" day until Mumford & Sons through Arcade Fire, which was painful. Sunday...oh my God, as great as it was, I never want to relive that day.

Yeah, that was a long several hours holding firm for the acts leading up to AF. I didn't barrier camp any days at Coachella like I did at Lolla and Outside Lands, though. Not moving from the main stage for 12 straight hours straight takes a LOT of endurance.

ApproximatelyInfinite

I tried to barrier-camp for The Strokes. Of course Sunday would be the hottest day...we managed until Death From Above, which was a SHIT SHOW. People were losing consciousness left and right, getting crushed near to the point of asphyxiation, girls getting pushed over by huge guys, getting kicked in the head and bleeding...I got out during Duran Duran and watched from the back, heartbroken. It was a wise choice for my safety, but the two other festivals I've seen The Strokes at this year were NOTHING compared to Coachella, and they were pretty dangerous themselves. Even Nick Valensi from The Strokes came out during DFA to survey the damage and looked concerned :P

After prematurely claiming my 2011 concert calendar was done a week ago, the holiday shows have begun rolling out and I'm suddenly busy again in the next couple months with Mates of State, Feist, Naked and Famous, The Airborne Toxic Event, Noel Gallagher, Florence and the Machine (3rd time!), and Death Cab for Cutie. And then probably KROQ ACX like I do every year, but that hasn't been announced yet.

That's right, I'm finally seeing DCFC after contemplating every one of their shows over the last several years (they come through SoCal like 5 times a year) and deciding not to buy them every single time. :laugh3:

Arcade Fire last December which was a dream that finally came true.

Watched Bombay Bicycle Club for a second time in October, still kick ass live.
I saw Arctic Monkeys & Vaccines on Friday night, they were awesome.

Desperately trying to get tickets for Bon Iver on Thursday evening!

The Twang at the end of December, purely because my friends love them, I only know one or two songs.

When he opened for Radiohead and played with rocketnumbernine they sounded SO good! I wonder if that's a collab album in the works or something.

I'm really excited to see him live!

Hopefully more will be added once I start a new job that begins next week. I did three festivals in 2011 and saw a huge number of artists and I don't want 2012 to pale in comparison. Especially with newer/lesser known artists--I usually stick with shows from people I'm already interested in, but festivals are amazing to see the up-and-coming groups that few know about.

It's funny since I've seen both Sharon van Etten AND Wye Oak open for The National. Both were great, and I honestly didn't know a thing about Sharon beforehand.

Been doing a bunch of free shows this month. Caught free mini-performances by Nada Surf, Gotye, and Coldplay (lol) earlier this month and then saw My Brightest Diamond last night.

Cursive and Veronica Falls will wrap up the month for me, as it's been a very fruitful month for free in-store shows and free TV tapings.

Also got tickets for The Temper Trap next month, then of course comes the Coachella madness in April. Seriously contemplating ACL later this year, especially since the Bonnaroo lineup is good but not quite good enough for me to throw down the travel expenses.

Concerts I've been to.
The Holiday Makers and When The Cats Away, when I was young. They were both New Zealand bands who have since finished.

I've also been to a Westlife concert a few years ago. All three concerts were held in Wellington.

Coldplay came to New Zealand to do a concert in Auckland in 2009 or 2010, but I couldn't go because I was saving up for an overseas trip.

This month Roxette also came over here to do a concert in Auckland, but I've had to miss out on that too and this is also because of saving up to go overseas.

I've noticed U.S. festivals have been on a sales upswing lately. These past 2 years are the first time Coachella's sold out within a week (usually it's taken a few months), while Lolla and ACL sold out last year in a few months even though they hadn't sold out at all in recent years.

I'm just glad we're still nowhere near Glasto demand levels.

Coachella actually sold out both weekends in hours!
The second sale in January did. The first batch of passes were on sale for a full week several months beforehand, which had WAY more passes than the January batch.

Which is kind of a ploy on the part of Goldenvoice (Coachella's promoter) to claim they sold out within hours.
