We need to go to a Massive Attack show. Both our luck combined... magic could happen
Last year the day before the Wembley Coldplay show Massive Attack were playing in London. With one of my friends we went to the Brixton Academy just to see what it look like and we saw that Massive attack were playing that night. I prayed my friend to find tickets because I was sure that Damon will come and because I love Massive attack. She never accept. So I asked for just being around after the show and she laught to me. So we didn't go to that gig and just stayed at the hotel room doing nothing special. When I came home two days after I saw videos of the gig with Damon. :dozey:

im with eddie here. that is a seriously good list of bands. i wish i had gone to see the strokes when they were here in july :(
has anyone seen a band more than 5 times? and i dont mean your mates band or something. i mean a well known established act. in the coming holidays i will be seeing Tame Impala for the 4th time and theyre still on their debut album tour so i hope they become a band i end up seeing 10 or 15 times in my life.

I will be seeing The Phoenix Foundation for the 4th time soon. (but they're not terribly famous, but they're a well known and established NZ band.)
^^ Yeah, I have seen Mew a zillion times, hahaha. And I still can't get enough of it :D
Already last year alone I saw them more than five times live, but I know they have fans that have seen them live even way more times than me. What can I say ... they're just that good
If a-ha and Coldplay weren't so expensive to see (including traveling to other countries etc.), I would love to see them more than five times live as well :}

yeah that really sucks Lore! I'm sorry!
That's one thing I find a bit annoying about McCartney... he has so much money already (one of the richest musicians ever), yet he still charges so much for shows. It's like the diehard fans that don't have so much money can't go. I mean even when I went I remember my dad complaining of the pricing.
Well I hope you can get a ticket somehow!
...or at least be able to sneak in :sneaky:
Not possible because I won't pay for a flight if I don't have a ticket  . Too bad he won't come to Chile because I'm sure I would be able to buy a ticket then. Buying tickets for concerts in another country is way harder for me :(

I saw Melissa Auf Der Maur last week (former bassist in Hole and Smashing Pumpkins). It was amazing, I talked with her when she was on stage and she also gave me her pick after the last song. She is one of my biggest influences on my own bassplaying so that felt pretty awesome :)
Edit:
I wanted to see Rush next year but nobody seems to like them :( I've heard that the shows are about 3,5h so I just don't want to sit there alone + the tickets were expensive.

probably only La Mar de Músicas (http://www.lamardemusicas.com/) festival, is along July (3 weeks) and this year it'll be dedicated to Italy. Line up will be completelly announced by May. Will be the second time i'll attend it after a two years gap for me. :(
May be i'll try to attend some gigs at the two alternative venues we have here but most bands are new and local and one is mainly for grindcore :dead: which my ears dislike.
I doubt if i'll can go to other concerts in autumn/winter in other near places :\ at least will be something.
2010 passed by with no gigs at all for me :disappointed: when there were some really :awesome: ones i wanted to see. :bigcry:

^I noticed that you have been to several great concerts lately including Muse / U2 and the Killers - and soon PAUL McCartney (on 11.5).
Some years ago, Paul McCartney gave a concert in Copenhagen. A friend of mine was invited by her husband to go with him to see Paul McCartney - alright, she thought. 10 days after the concert, she had not landed yet, but felt like flying. She was still so ecstatic.
So I think that you can look forward to a quite EPIC experience. I am sure that he will also sing some BEATLES favourite songs.
Yeah I've been so lucky, since February I've seen The Killers (twice), LCD Soundsystem, Kanye West, Muse, U2, The National and some other bands. This is the best concert year ever

You know, some people in South American countries often talk about how no decent musicians ever play shows where they live, but they sure get a heck of a lot more good concerts than I do :blank:
Well this is definitely something new. In the past few years we were lucky if we had 3 decent shows each year. But they know we pay whatever they want for concerts. I'm not complaining but concert tickets are way too expensive here. The most expensive ticket for Paul McCartney costs more than 1000 usd (no backstage, etc). Coldplay's 1st show here cheapest ticket costed like 90 usd and so on.

I accidently found out Neil and Liam Finn were part of the Solid Sound lineup (http://solidsoundfestival.com/music-2) because I was on Last.fm today, so I've given in and bought tickets. Before I didn't want to look so I wouldn't be tempted to buy tickets GODDAMMIT.
I'm going to be so fucking broke when Radiohead tour, but the lineup for SS is so bad ass I can't miss it, I'll feel like shit for the rest of the summer.
On a positive not, I've already made a schedule for myself so I know when to camp out by the stages to see musicians I like, so it's sure to be a good time.
EDIT: The musicians I'll be sure to see while I'm there are:
Pajama Part (ft. Neil Finn)
Wilco (x2)
Sic Alps
Liam Finn
Sly johnson and The Sweet Divines
Darin Gray
Glenn Kotche (solo)
Pronto
Levon Helm and His Rambling Band
And altogether, by June my list of Musicians I've seen should look like this:
Coldplay
Elbow
Pronto (x2)
The Books
Brenda
On Filmore
The Baseball Project
Mavis Staples
Wilco (x3)
The Autumn Defense
Avi Buffalo
Jeff Tweedy (solo)
Pajama Part (ft. Neil Finn)

Darin Gray

The Black Keys (x2)
Brandon Flowers
The Bravery
Bright Eyes
Broken Bells
Broken Social Scene
Cage the Elephant
Coldplay (x2)
Crystal Castles
CSS

The Dodos
Duran Duran
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros
Ellie Goulding

Festival needs some Underoath or For Today or Demon Hunter or something man.
It's like $30, which means I'll only have the money if I convince my friend to make the Skillet and Manic Drive presents a belated birthday present haha. (and I'd have to find someone willing to go with me)
Trying to decide between that or getting VIP tickets for Rock The River in September.

SO MANY CONCERTS THIS YEAR :freak:
If the festival is for FREE and Starfield is playing then - IF I were you - I would rather choose the September festival than the first one you mentioned. Or save the money for the hoodie OR choose the World Vision volunteer opportunities.

And I can try to meet Trevor McNevan and say something to Tim Neufeld other than "howdy" like I did last time. It's probably not the best idea to tell him I think they're like 50 times better live than on their albums though, need to make sure I don't say that in my attempt to converse haha.

Trying to meet these guys sounds like a good idea. If you're asked whether you prefer them playing live or their studio albums - then you should say that you prefer them live because you like their performance (or whatever is your reason). In that way they cannot feel hurt, but might even feel flattered.

U2 was in the city nearest me last night...I was sort of jealous of all my friends who went, but the tickets were ridicuously priced. Plus they played at an outdoor venue and my province never gets nice weather in May (and yesterday was no exception!) so it didn't seem worth it.
