Regina Spektor was really good live!
I want to go to Beach House too! But I'm already going to Amsterdam 6 or 7 times that month, so it may be a bit much. As it's a five hour round trip and all. :dozey:
Beach House was really great when I saw them open for Grizzly Bear! The venue was a chapel, so since the band has a more relaxed feel the natural reverb of the venue made them sound really incredible!
I'm seeing them live in May

Beach House was really great when I saw them open for Grizzly Bear! The venue was a chapel, so since the band has a more relaxed feel the natural reverb of the venue made them sound really incredible!
I'm seeing them live in MayI'm kinda on the fence about seeing them because the venue they're playing at is rather big (it holds about 1500) compared to venues they've played at before (250-450). It's a converted church, so the atmosphere is amazing for any kind of band. I don't think it will sell out quickly though, so I still have some time to think about it. Well, that and I'm kind of broke. They're playing here end May by the way.
My concert schedule would be like this:
May 3 Flight of the Conchords
May 4 LCD Soundsystem
May 15 Ólafur Arnalds (possibly, haven't got a ticket yet)
May 18 Broken Social Scene
May 23 The New Pornographers
May 25 The Antlers
May 26 Beach House (possibly, haven't got a ticket yet)
May 31 Snow Patrol (possibly, have got a ticket but it depends on the support act whether I go)
June 2 Jónsi
That's.. 45 hours of travelling. I'd basically be living in trains. XD
It's a bit too crazy, but I won't be able to go to many concerts in June as I have finals then. (I have to do some serious studying because I failed a lot of courses in January :dozey:)
I'll probably buy a ticket if I get a job soon though. :wacky:

07-03-2010, 09:12 PM
wow! that's quite a concert schedule!I know! I wasn't planning on it, but it just.. happened. Plus, because of my student grant I can travel for free during either weekends or weekdays, so I usually don't even have any transport costs. The main problem is this though:
http://img690.imageshack.us/img690/82/42734535.jpg
That's a 2,5 hour single journey and the last train leaves at 23:30 (sometimes a bit too early to stay all the way through the encore). :dozey:
I just can't help myself. :wacky:

You all are so lucky. I havent been to any foreign band's gigs. I know, it sounds very lame. But no one comes to Lithuania. The only hope is "Be2gether" festival in june. probably the only proper festival held in Lithuania. but the list of bands hasn't been announced yet. so the only thing i can do is pray.

Of your list I already saw Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club and Laura Marling. Passion Pit wasn't so good but I think it had something to do with some technical issues. Anyway there was a great atmosphere ! As for TDDC and Laura Marling : just perfect !
I will see Vampire Weekend and The National this summer and MGMT this winter!
Haha yes, very broke. But it will be worth it!
Update: I saw Vampire Weekend last night, they were absolutely incredible! :dead:

And did you like Timber Timbre? I love him so much, an amazing artist! Yeeeeh  I really liked Timber Timbre! Probably one of my favourite opening acts this year. I love dark and melancholic music, so Timber Timbre is exactly my cup of tea. Can you recommend any albums or eps?
Broken Social Scene was pretty good, except for the fact that they have two hour sets. I usually don't mind, but they started too late for me to see the whole thing because I had to catch the last train home. But apart from that, I really enjoyed the show. The new songs sounded fantastic (especially liked Texico Bitches, Forced to Love and The Sweetest Kill) and they played a good selection of old songs (7/4 Shoreline, Cause = Time, Anthems etc., unfortunately no Lover's Spit). Also awesome crowd participation. At one point Kevin invited a boy on the stage to hold the lyrics to Forced to Love. It was kind of hilarious because Kevin was almost hitting on the boy. But he didn't seem to mind. Highlight for me was when Kevin sang a song in the middle of the audience and everyone automatically started taking pictures and photos. He said that we should just "savour the memory" and everyone just listened. :D
I was really bummed that I couldn't see the whole show, but I knew that beforehand. BSS are a lot of fun though. :nice:

Awesome. They're another band I would like to see. I've seen most of the member's various side projects but never BSS together. Sounds like a fun time!
As for Timber Timbre I'm only familiar with his latest s/t album. So I would highly recommend that one. It was my no. 6 album of 2009. :) Demon Host is a spectacularly haunting bone chilling song. Also I saw him in an old church. So beautiful.

Sidewalk Meese/Nevernudes/Body 125/Grass Cannons
I just went to this and it was amazing
There was hardly anyone there. I was the only outsider...everyone else was either a member of a band or a friend of a band member. By the end they all loved me :P
Both Sidewalk Meese and Body 125 dedicated songs to me :cheesy:

Saw the New Pornographers on Tuesday night. Good show with a varied setlist, and the fact that I was in the front row directly in front of Kathryn Calder only sweetened the deal (Neko Case, by comparison, was surrounded by middle aged men, kinda creepy). I almost nabbed a setlist but some bitch grabbed it from my hand. Arggh.
My unfortunately short list of artists seen:
The Bravery
Coldplay
Metric
Muse
The New Pornographers
Phoenix
Snow Patrol
Vampire Weekend
Still have those doggone U2 tickets. :laugh3:

I've only been to one concert: Coldplay, which took place last year.
But I plan on going to a Music Festival next month to see Wilco and a number of other bands/musicians (http://solidsoundfestival.com/event).

Emma (http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/member.php?u=44646) saw her live, Nick (http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/member.php?u=36004) has had gifs and pictures of her in his avi and sig and I've talked to him about Gaga, and Lauren (http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/member.php?u=36498)has just recently had a Gaga avi so I assume she's a fan.
