I don't feel like going through every page on this forum looking to see if someone already asked this.

But does anyone know how to play Amsterdam on piano?

I'd like to know.

Tell me, if you don't mind.

Thank you.

Anders

K. I printed out the sheet music, and only the first four note seem right, you know the first two key strikes and the c,d.

But I think the sheet music stops being correct right there.

All I really need is the second key strike notes. I think it's (C, G, B, D), but correct me if I'm wrong.

Right after the chorus, when the organ starts, and the piano goes really high...

Please don't refer me to the sheet music, it really takes me such a long time to translate even one note.

How shall I describe if you cant read notes?

In chords? Its F9 (add 9) and then Abmaj7 - Ab6 - Eb - Bb and again...

Luigio
28-01-2006, 08:14 PM
No i can read notes fine its just on sheet music it takes me a long time to convert them.

Yes, but I think it sounds wrong

no, but you have to play the tones in the right order...

Why dont you look into the sheets? Its absolutely not difficult!!

how do the note/chords go after the second time he sings "no it's no cause for concern"

Luigio
04-02-2006, 08:33 PM
I believe the main chord (like the none he plays about 30 times) goes like so: C#,F,G#, and the low notes that you play once or twice in between are C sharps. I'm sure you can figure out the key. Thats the basic one, but yeah.

It should be there under A Rush of Blood to the Head. Pretty much all the songs you'll ever need (well the famous ones at least) are on the very first post. Take a gander.

Hey all, I have looked over three different books of coldplay sheet music, and the Amsterdam tabs don't seem to be accurate, I've got the first bar down, but the second bar in the song where chris plays those quick eighth note progression is way off, it says B - A Natural - F - then C flat, it doesn't sound right.. any help?

Luigio
04-06-2006, 05:59 PM
This is the way I play it. Figure out the timing and such yourself:

(B,E) (same time), then tap F#, then hit (B,F#), then tap Eb, then (B,C#), then tap C, then (A, C)

It all descends except for the first 3 hits, where it ascends. I hope that's what you're talking about anyways. The faster part before the verses right??

Trouble87

I was talking about the first verse, heres a picture of what I need help on, it's in the second bar.

Oh, okay, well it's the same first 4 chords as the intro, so I assume you're talking about those two wierd chords in the middle. What you do is play the second chord from the intro, but you change the Eb's to Db's, and then the two quick notes are A#, and F#. After that you hit (A, Db, E) and then tap A again.

Sorry if I butchered explaining it, but the notes are right anyhow.

oh cool thanks, I've been so busy and tired the past few days I havn't had the patience to tab it myself, thanks again!

Haha, good luck with that!

haha, thanks for the good luck, I've got the first verse pretty much down!

Luigio
06-06-2006, 08:53 PM
Lol, the song does take quite a bit of practice but once you get it down it's pretty much second nature.

Oh, and I made a mistake on the notes... a small one. You know when you do the very last bit, the A# then the F#, then that chord and then you hit A... well you don't hit A, you hit the E that's father down close to the F#, so it doesn't sound like you go down and then up randomly.

If..........

one of my favorites songs is Amsterdam!! is a relly powerfull song n very deep! n is a beautiful song!

Stuck on the end of this ball
and chain
And I'm on my way back down.
Stood on the edge
Tied to a noose
Sick to the stomach
You can say what you mean
But it won't change a sin
I'm sick of the secrets
Stood on the edge, tied to a noose
and you came along but you cut me loose
You came along and you cut me loose
You came along and you cut me loose.

dude i'll be honest... your videos don't really impress me. that stuff's learnable in a couple of months for a begginer piano player, and as far as anyone else, you can learn those songs in 15 or 20 minutes... coldplay's not hard to play at all from a musical standpoint. work on a cover or a coldplay song that's really hard like shiver, and make it good, or just do audio covers. we dont need videos of this. or write your own music.

i started trying to learn this song also, but im still confused as to what is above. could someone clearly outline what the second measure should be? thanks

Trouble87
05-07-2006, 05:21 PM
what I do is: The first chord in the second measure, I hit B,C#,F# with my right hand, right after that chord I hit A# then F# with my thumb, then I adjust to hit the chord with these notes: A,C#,E

Hope that helps alittle bit

what? there shouldn't be any F or C #s...... in your first post, you said the eighth notes were B, A natural, F, and C flat. but the B (flat) is part of the chord, and there are just two eighth notes in the middle, which are A natural, F, and then back up to A flat, which is part of the next chord (Ab, C, Eb). i don't know where you're getting all those sharps from, unless i'm being very ignorant here and missing something, lol.

lmk what you think

thanks

C# and F# is the chord you play, and then I hit B, A# and F# as eighth notes while still holding down C# and F#, then right after the eighth notes I hit Natural A,C# and E as a chord.

that all sounds in a different key

@_@ i'm confused

are you saying the second measure of the sheet music, the chords and individual notes, is wrong?

ok, so the "official" sheet music is just a half step too low?

Trouble87

in my opinion yes, I find those books are not that accurate, and these notes sound better than what the book says

hulkioa06
10-07-2006, 06:18 PM
yeah, i re-listened to the studio track and it seems a bit higher. either that or chris's piano was out of tune ;-)

ARG! but take a listen to this:

those definately sound like E flats and natural G's...

I will say this. This song is pretty hard to play. I'm kind of sort of playing it! lol!

Anyway, my iPod helps me a lot with timing and other stuff I may notice but for some reason the books won't have! I don't have the whole song by memory just yet but my friends were pretty impressed with what I COULD remember
