Dani California and Tom Petty song?

Well.....the US radio channel found out that there is a resemblance between the RHCP song "Dani California" and the Tom Petty song "Mary Jane's last"...they say that RHCP stole the riff by the 90s song....

I read that on the mtv german website....

I don't have anything against RHCP. For me they fall into the category of "overrated, but not doing anyone any harm".
Rather people are listening to stuff like that than Green Day and James Blunt!:cool:

I love Tom Petty. I am 19, so not young and not old. I have not followed him closely, but would recognize a song if I heard it. I did notice something. In the "Dani California" video, Anthony appeared to be dressed like Tom Petty in one of the "stages" of the video with the pastel suit and top hat and big sunglasses.

He is coming to DTE this summer.

I'm listening to it right now, and I'm stunned. It's so BLATANT. I can't believe this. Mary Jane is one of my favorite songs of all time, really. I had never heard the Chili Peppers song before, but I'm sure if I had I could have caught this.



I hope Petty sues. And sues fast and hard. No offense to the Chili Peppers (actually, you know what, OFFENSE INTENDED), but this is just wrong.

thanks for posting this! i've been reading about this for a couple of days now and was wondering what all the fuss was. after listening to it, i am in shock. my jaw was literally dropped when i heard them play it simultaneously. that is crazy.
