this nation sometimes sucks....
i looked for the results....and i've known that they were published 5 DAYS BEFORE the date written on the request....NOW ON THE NET THERE ARE NOT THE RESULTS YET

With this thing i was obliged to give at an office the receipt for having paid the subscription (245 euros) to try to win the scolarship (1600 euros)
I WAS OBLIGED TO GIVE IT IN 5 DAYS AFTER THE PUBLISHING OF THE RESULTS
so...i went with my mum to the Post Office, we paid that, then we run to this f****** bureau

not only that but some ppl that were elected were ppl that have been stealing their whole political lives. one senator was actually arrested for 2 months and was the most voted senator in são paulo. the ex president (and the ONLY empeached president in history) was elected as senator too... its ridiculous!!!

Im not bad, really tired though! The guy I was going to go with had too much work to do for tomorrow, also its raining a lot now! I really wanted to go as I already had my ticket...but luckily my brother can use the ticket as he's going next week. I will have to wait til' next spring probably now...its a shame. :( oh well!

I was in London last week as I had to visit several museums for my course...in the evening I met up with Steph and Ophelie, we got the underground to Covent Garden and had a nice dinner! It was very weird...but Ophelie was so nice! a really nice evening.

What have you been upto?

Larry
22-10-2006, 03:06 PM
Buon giorno Nicko! Como siete? :P

Oh, that's sad Kara! But well... maybe next year the theme park will have another new ride or roller coaster and you might be one of the first persons who are allowed to use it. :)

Ah Covent Garden? I really adore this place. When I went to London in 2004 my English class-mates and I spent a very nice night there. There were some great buskers. We went to a club and there was a girl who sold tequila and she was soooo beautiful. Did you go to a restaurant or to a pub? Any about what have you all talked?

I had a very stressy week but I enjoyed it. :) On Wednesday I had tickets for a concert but I sold them, because I got tickets for a Champions League match which was great. Thursday I had to work from 8am until 8pm. It was horrible, but there were so many things to do. Luckily I had a day-off on Friday, because I had and I still have a lot of overtime.

Yesterday I went to a football match again (Werder Bremen - Bayern Munich) and it was absolutely fantastic. Really nice and mild weather, we won 3:1 and afterwards we went to the fair again. It was so overcrowded and that's also the reason why they have closed the main railway station of Bremen in the evening. But it was a nice day. On the fair there was another new fun ride which was so funny.

People have to climb up a tower by using a band-conveyor. So many people fell down which was so funny for us who only looked to it from the basement. :D And the man who sold tickets always said nasty and funny things to them.

crazyduckette
22-10-2006, 03:16 PM
Yeah, there'll probably be more rides next year. and might be able to get more people to go as well.

Yeah, Covent Garden is a lovely place..it was quiet when we went, a Tuesday evening I guess...

You been watching lots of football then? Thats cool for you. The thing thats funny here at uni is the rivalries between the football and rugby teams, and netball and hockey teams....very fierce!!

That ride sounds funny to watch!

Are you still going to London yourself?

Larry
22-10-2006, 03:29 PM
It was quiet in Covent Garden? That's astonishing! :nice:

Yeah, last Wednesday one girl asked me to go to the Champions League match and I coudn't say no. My team is playing very good at the moment and it's so funny in the stadium, because you always meet some crazy people.

Yesterday for example... at the main railway station... suddenly a drunken man asked us where he could find a sex-shop. :D Crazy world!

I was looking for a good picture in the internet with that funny ride but I only found this one...

http://www.freimarkt.de/ecard.php?file=galery/Freimarkt%202006/108.jpg&id=290

Yeah, I'm still going to London, but now together with 3 of my mates. I'm counting the days...

Is it only in London or are you able to go shopping everywhere in England on Sundays? I really enjoyed it last year. One of the best things in England is the ban of smoking in public areas, like for example in pubs. I think Germany is the only country in Europe where you're still allowed to smoke in pubs. It's absolutely annoying!

Petit Prince
22-10-2006, 03:49 PM

i think its normal that you can go shopping on sundays in england. i'm not surre if you can do it everywhere but definitely in bigger cities.

You see, there's a competition like American Idol on TV right now. It's the 3rd season, and I think it's enough. I don't like it any more. At first (the 1st season) I liked it, but now it bothers me :D There are interviews, photos, videos etc. everywhere....

Me and one of my teacher at school talk about LOST after the day it was on. We both like it, but I think he loves it more than me.

I only watch AI for the interviews or adictions(Spelling:confused: ) because it is the funniest part of the whole show. After that I don't watch it.

That's cool :D We also have some "cool" teachers at school :) They're really fine. At basic school there was a great teacher, I was chatting with her about everything ;) Maybe it was because she was one of the youngest in there :)

So, it's quite late now, I must get up early, so ... Good night ;)
Anyways, what's your name? Mine is Magda :D

Haha, today the area where one of my friends live, has been evacuated, because they have found a British Second World War bomb there. He wasn't allowed to enter his house til the evening. It's the second time that this happened to him. Last year it was the same. ;)

In the news I also saw a story about another WW II bomb which exploded on the motorway A3 near Aschaffenburg. One man was killed... :(

Yeah, this morning it was raining but then the sun came back and it was a really nice day. I was jogging today, but only for an hour. This weekend was just exhausting. What have you done?

Oh God, only 5 days til I saw Coldplay one year ago in Oberhausen. :( I remember that it was a really nice and mild day as well.

Yeah, it's so sad! I still know exactly what I've done on October 28th. :nice: It was a Friday... Such a great day! First I went shopping in Germany's biggest mall in Oberhausen and afterwards I went to the concert. It was unbelievable! :)

You saw them twice Kara, didn't you? IOW and where else?

Yep IOW and I saw them in London last December, Earls Court on the 14th December. It was awesome. You went shopping before? Did you put it in a car or something before the concert?

Larry
23-10-2006, 08:28 PM
Hey Nicko!

Grace, the man didn't know that he drove over a WW II bomb. There were road works on it when it happened... :(

Ah Earls Court... I stood exactly one week before the Coldplay concerts in front of it...

I can't wait to see them again.

Yeah, I bought a CD and a shirt for my brother and I then I went to the parking garage, before I went back to the arena. ;)

Did you already know Steph when you went to see Coldplay for the first time?

No, I hadnt met Steph then...I registered on this forum a few days before the concert and talked to her briefly in the 'whos going' kinda thread. I seem to remember someone telling us to meet up (think it was Mark  ) lol. but we didnt really know each other then. I think we just gradually talked more and more and then IOW tickets went on sale...and then we met up ('with Coldplay' looool) :D

You've met people from here havn't you?

Hey sally!

Yeah, the concerts were already sold-out when I went to London. :(

No, unfortunately I registered here just a few days after I went to the concert. I didn't know any person here, but I think that Julia (Gitta Rensolo) and Sarah met in Oberhausen. I think Sarah told me that when she was in Bremen a few months ago.

But I met some other nice guys at the concert and I'm still in contact with them by writing short-messages or via ICQ. :)

Sorry, I have to pick up my brother from a party now. I think he was drunk when I spoke to him a few seconds ago. :D I'm back in 20 minutes...

I watched Children of men on Saturday and I went to the cinema expecting to see a great film, 'cos of the good reviews it has had but actually I didn't like it. It's that kind of films that you read its synopsis and you think: "wow, surely it'll be perfect and interesting" but when u go and watch it, you realize it's not that good, for the main reason there're loads of things they miss to explain, they give them to understand and... 'cos it doesn't make sense!

Hey Kara! :)

Just read you're in Brighton again for a week?! I can imagine that it's a strange feeling coming back after 6 weeks of uni. How did you travel home and any plans for the following week?

I'm so jealous, on Wednesday my parents are flying to London for a few days and I have to bring them to the airport. :dozey::lol:

crazyduckette
29-10-2006, 03:21 PM
Yeah, Im back home, its really nice to be back. Very strange feeling though! Going to see my friends this evening, should be great!!

That's cool your parents are visiting London! Where are they staying and what are they planning to do there? Have they been before? Bet you wanna go though. :\

Larry
29-10-2006, 03:32 PM
Hehe, sounds great! I bet you'll have a great time this evening. How comes that you're spending some days in Brighton? Do you have some kind of vacation at uni? By the way, how was your second Maximo Park concert? :)

It's the first time that my parents are going to Great Britain. Strange, isn't it?! :P I always told them how great it was there, so I persuaded them to visit London. They will arrive at Luton airport and then they will take the bus to Marble Arch (we always call it "Marble's Arsch" (Marble's ass lol)). Afterwards they have to use the tube. I guess their hotel is in Notting Hill but I'm not quite sure.

I don't know what they want to visit but they were a bit shocked that the prices are extremely high, especially for touristy things. But they will definitely take a ride with that London Eye. ;)

Still have to wait a month... :(

crazyduckette
29-10-2006, 03:52 PM
Yeah, my course has a half term holiday this week...I will go back next Saturday.

Well, I'm sure your parents will enjoy London, unfortunate for them how it's too expensive, lol! They should definitely visit the London Eye, and all of the attractions around that area, The Tate Modern, the river, Big Ben, etc....

My second Maximo Park concert was great. :D
Steph couldnt afford the ticket (I still dont know why I paid so much but hey  ) so I had to go on my own! Luckily I met up with some people who we'd previously met at the Brixton gig three weeks ago. I had to wait ages for them, but then we met with some other people from the Brixton gig too. We managed to get front row, and I was exactly on the centre. It was brilliant!!

Maximo were supporting New Order, so there weren't many of us M.P fans...but it was still great!! Do you wanna see a few photos?

What have you been up to recently. anything fun?

Larry
29-10-2006, 04:07 PM
Half term holiday... that sounds brilliant! :D Lucky you!

Yeah, my parents will also visit some football stadiums, for example the new one of Arsenal. By the way... do you know if you're already able to visit the new Wembley stadium? It's not in the centre, is it? So I guess you need to have a Travel Card for more than only 2 zones.

Oh great that you meet some people at the second Maximo Park gig. It's always better instead of going on your own. How did you managed to get front row? I've never been in the front row in my life. I'm also a bit afraid of my ears. Is it very loud there? Did you also watch the performance of New Order or were you leaving the gig just after Maximo Park had finished?

Hm, my life is great the moment. I had two days off on Thursday and on Friday so I was shopping in Bremen and Oldenburg. Friday night I was watching a football match with some of my work-mates and it was a brilliant time. For every goal we had to trink Jägermeister... and our favourite team scored 6 times... I was so glad that one goal wasn't given by the referees although it was regular. Afterwards we played karaoke and poker. Yesterday, as you already saw, I went with some of my friends to a club. It was a cheap evening, because we had free-tickets and every drink only cost 1 Euro. ;)

In an hour I'm going to drive to Bremen, because there is a concert of a German artist. Hope it will be good. :)

crazyduckette
29-10-2006, 04:20 PM
I dont think that Wembley is open to visit yet, it still had barriers around the outside, maybe you could check the website if not. Steph goes to uni at the station of Arsenal...hehe!
Here's a photo that I took of Wembley on Friday night
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/crazyduckette/wembley.jpg

To get to the front row, its just a case of waiting for a few hours and then just running to the front barrier. We stayed at the front for 1 of New Order's songs, then we moved out of the way so their fans could be at the front. I'd have felt guilty if we hadnt moved, lol. I dont find it too loud being at the front most of the time.

Sounds like you've had a good weekend, lots of drinking and relaxing! I wish cocktails cost 1 euro (under £1 here I think!!!!) here. :( I cant wait to go out on Tuesday in Brighton, me and my friends might dress up for Halloween, will be funny!

Do people in Germany 'celebrate' Halloween?

Larry
29-10-2006, 04:38 PM
Wow, astonishing! That stadium looks amazing! :o

So that concert was at Wembley, only in another hall besides the stadium?

Nice to hear that you didn't stay the whole concert at first row. I wish everyone would handle the same way as you did.

Hehe, yeah 1 euro ~ 0,67 quid. There are a lot of 1 euro parties here and that's the reason why so many people are going to the clubs. The business competition between the discos here is quite hard. ;)

Oh, you're going to a Halloween party?! :nice: Do you have a costume? I've never been to one, because here people don't celebrate it so much. But during the last 5 years American and British influences became stronger, so now children are going on the streets to collect tucks etc. But that's all! I kinda hate these cheeky kids lol.

Do you celebrate Halloween every year?

crazyduckette
29-10-2006, 04:55 PM
Yeah that concert was in Wembley arena, which is just to the right (you cant see it in the pic).
Here was my view!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v301/crazyduckette/stage.jpg

Drinks so cheap!!! The place I went to at uni had cocktails 2 for £4, not too bad....and another place in Brighton, the cocktails cost £4-5, it's ridiculous!!!! Usually I dont buy them though, I go for cheaper options haha, or other people buy them!

We dont celebrate Halloween that much here, just the dressing up thing, it's quite commercial. I dont know what to be yet! I was thinking of a killer bunny as i have some bunny ears. Not sure though. thats a bit lame lol! Maybe I could copy Steph and be something from the Mighty Boosh.

Do you have any concerts coming up?

Larry
29-10-2006, 05:13 PM
Your view was fantastic. Ah, I would really like to see them again. Do you know if they will release a new album soon?

Oh, that's really expensive. What else do you drink? Do you like beer? My favourite beer is Beck's. Is also coming from Bremen. :) But I know a few people who don't like any beer.

Haha killer bunny sounds exciting. What a coincidence... there is just a special halloween Simpsons episode on TV and there is a brown nasty bunny in it. :D

I never heard something about Mighty Boosh. Is it a comedy show?

Hm, next concerts (signature) are on November 7th (Mando Diao + Razorlight) in Hamburg and Farin Urlaub (a German musician) in Bremen today and that's the reason why I have to go off now, sorry. It will start in 1 1/2 hour. What about you?

Hope you'll have a lot of fun this evening! :) Bye!

I talked to Lukas the keyboard player, he said they are having a new album out in Spring....so concerts will hopefully follow. :D

Lol about the bunny. the Mighty Boosh is an excellent but random/weird comedy show from BBC....you can probably find some of it on youtube!!

My favourite drink is Malibu, but it doesnt get me drunk now, as I always drink it lol!! I dont really drink beer that often, but I dont hate it. I dont have a preference.

are you studying something or working on sthg of the scientific field? (or maybe you chose that username 'cos of the Scientist song...)

@Magda: oh..what a shame. I remember you used to come here often!
oh, don't worry about that exam I did. In fact, I was sad when I knew my mark, but afterwards, I thought I had more chances... so I'll try to take advantage of them!
That's true. At Uni we don't have to do so many exams (at least not in my uni), but we do a final one that you've to pass, or otherwise you have to repeat the subject (I dunno which method for evaluating a subject is the best, though) :uhoh:

oh, everyone has to go.
Byebye, have fun u both!

seems it is hard to find a job close to the place you really want to find it.

Oh, what did you do yesterday?

Petit Prince
29-10-2006, 09:21 PM
i went to zürich, we just had a drink together and went to a club afterwards. was a great evening!

it was, i needed to go dancing. staying home can be so damn depressing.

Oenona
29-10-2006, 09:31 PM
i haven't gone to the discotheque for ages, maybe 'cos I don't like its music style... though when I go there, I used to have fun.

yeah, i know how depressing it can be... so it's better to go out and do sthg, than being at home falling to pieces.

Petit Prince
29-10-2006, 09:38 PM
exactly the worst i can do is staying at home and thinking about them things. it's only bring you down.

Oenona

yeah, true. anyway, i know it's easy to say but sometimes hard to do.

Nicko, grazie sono benissimo!

Angie, last week I saw a reportage on TV where they said that more and more people are starting to play football (or as you say "soccer") in the USA. Do you think it's true?

Mariana, where do you have to work?

Oh Kara, I'm sure you'll do a great job with your presentation.

Sarah, yeah, I remember on a flight to Tenerife a few years ago that I've watched Mr Bean in a plane. ;) That episode at the fairground is fantastic. :D

a presentation?! :stunned: gosh, in your first weeks at uni, that's scary!
Well... I had to do one at my third day there in front of about 140 people which went rather well in the end... It was quite funny after all, hehe :nice:

My uni-life is kinda boring at the moment...we still do basic stuff in our lectures, which often lets me barely fall asleep lol :laugh3:
I'll be glad when that's all over :nice:

I'd say yes, especially at school level. The MLS is not so great though. Only a few teams have football only stadiums. The match was played at University of Houston's Football stadium (American football) and it has all the field markers painted on and the Footie lines are painted on in yellow and it was hard to see where the box was and it just gets on my tits.

I once went trick-a-boozing. My friend took her daughter around this huge neighborhood of rich homes. The people there get some many trick-a-treaters, they just sit outside handing out candy so they don't have to keep getting up to answer the door. We brought mugs and bummed what ever booze they had. :laugh3:

Bye Nicko and Mariana, good evening Oenona! You're right! :nice:

Ah Kara, so you will not go as a crazy bunny tomorrow? ;) I will not do anything at Halloween, people here don't celebrate it that much. Lol, this evening a child rang the bell and wanted to have tucks... :dozey: But I will watch Champions League tomorrow in a pub, together with some friends. :nice:

Yeah, maybe in 2010 the United States will have a good team as well. I really hope football is getting more popular across the pond.
