It is possible, but you shouldn't really do it unless you want to use a song that is in a format that a portable player doesn't recognise. Remember: Everytime you convert from one lossy file format to another, you are losing quality!

You need a special CD for it. Some MP3 players come with it. Ask a computer shop to help you with that!

You don't need a special CD, you just need a converting program that you can download. There are loads of them out there, but you really shouldn't be doing it unless you really need to. Oh and don't convert to wma... it isn't that great a format.

I'm too stupid..I thought my mp3 player doen't play the format I had but I looked at the wrong section of the player...afterwards I found it!
Anyways thanks for your help! :)
There's a program I use to convert files into MP3, it really works!
It's called Switch.
Do a search in download.com and you'll find it!
Plus, it's freeware! :D ;)
Hope I've helped!

iTunes converts unprotected wma files and m4a files into Mp3's if you set it up right.

i know of a good programme that I use, I downloaded it from an israeli site, but it's in english... it's called "Free CD to MP3 Convereter", so say you put you're X&Y CD in you're computer, windows media player would copy it to your computer as a wav format. This program would copy the songs to your computer in MP3 format, then you could add the songs to your MP3 player...
It's free and it works fine, that's what I always use.
This is the link in hebrew http://software.nana.co.il/Software/?SoftwareID=5333.
All you have to do is press the big green box in the middle, that you would recognize says "890KB". If you can't figure this out, maybe you could find a link to this program from a different site
