Help: A Day In The Life

9 September 2005
Helping children affected by conflict all over the world

What is it like growing up in a war zone?
Each day, children in Iraq are caught in the crossfire of conflict. Children die, all the time.
Every day, Iraqi children die of malnutrition caused by 15 years of war and sanctions.
Each day, Iraqi children are scattered to the streets to earn money: to scavenge for their families trapped in poverty.
Every day, Iraqi children are orphaned. Worst of all, every day, an Iraqi child realises that if his life doesn't change, their future could be even harder than their past.
Ali is 14. He lives in Basrah. "I think I'll die when I leave the orphanage. I can't see any future without it."

Earlier this year War Child talked to children in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq about the problems growing up in a war zone. We discussed the limitations of safety, security, comfort and happiness: all the day-to-day things most young people in the UK take for granted. In fact we talked to children in the UK about this too. We asked them to tell us what we should do.
They simply said, "You should do something amazing for these children, something they would never forget."

That something is "Help: A Day In The Life"
"Help: A Day In The Life" has gathered together the best bands of this generation to take just one day of their time to record a new piece of music, which War Child will make available on right here on warchildmusic.com on 9 September. A physical CD release of the event will follow a few weeks later.

The line-up for "Help: A Day In The Life" will feature Radiohead, Gorillaz, Razorlight, The Zutons, Manic Street Preachers, Bloc Party, Hard-Fi, The Coral, Elbow, Mylo and Maximo Park. New artists are being added to the line-up each day.

In the one single day that it will take these awesome artists to record their song, War Child will have helped reduce some of the fear felt by the many children it comes into contact with around the world.
In the past War Child has fed, clothed, healed and educated children affected by conflict on four continents. Now, as we engage with a gang of street children in Iraq, we will take them away from the violence that dominates their lives and begin a process of education which will offer them hope for the future. This is vital stuff.

We know what kind of a difference we can make in a day: we are asking the contemporary music scene to answer calls from Ali in Iraq and children in the UK to do the same.

War Child has history
On one single day in September 1995, 20 of the UK's finest bands and artists went into studios across Europe to each produce a track for "Help", the fastest-ever number one album in British music history.
That album, recorded for the War Child charity, raised more than £1.25 million to help children caught in the obscenities of the Bosnian war. Appropriately, Radiohead – whose song "Lucky" became the signature tune of "Help" – were the first band to confirm their involvement with "Help: A Day In The Life".

The 10th anniversary of that extraordinary event will be marked by "Help: A Day in the Life" on Friday, 9 September 2005. On that one single day we are asking today's artists to each record a new track, and to make history as part of the world's fastest-ever online download album.

I know there is no sign of Coldplay in the list, but it looks like something they could do. What do you think ?

Yeah but it would only take one day to record the song for the warchild album. I sure Coldplay could find some spare time to do it.
I'm looking forward to hearing the album, some great bands on there! :)

I know this has already been in the news section, but I thought I'd remind everyone of the auction which raises money for the charity organisation BID2BEATAIDS.

Now they finally released some Coldplay items as well - I'd KILL to get one of these, but it's getting more and more expensive :embarrased:

So, for anyone who can afford these brilliant rare items: happy bidding :D

Here's the link of all of the Coldplay items:
http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&satitle=coldplay&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&bs=Search&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=&sadis=200&fpos=ZIP%2FPostal&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&seller=1&sass=bid2beataids

And I found a funny mistake in the text:
Composed of Chris Marttin, Kon Buckland, Will Champion, and Guy Berryman, their first full-length album was "Parachutes," which was released in the U.S. in November 2000.

Yeah, sure - Chris, Will, Guy and KONNY

CHRIS MARTIN

COLDPLAY frontman CHRIS MARTIN has pulled out of a money-raising gig for Oxfam at the last minute, despite being one of the charity's top celebrity representatives.

The event, due to take place at the end of this month (DEC05) in London, was postponed to fit around the rocker's busy schedule.

A source says, "Chris Martin has always been one of Oxfam's most high-profile supporters.

"The charity really wants his support and is willing to reschedule and relocate so he can take part."

Hi All! Oxfam America is auctioning a one-of-a-kind autographed and framed photo signed by all of Coldplay. To help support Oxfam’s “Make Trade Fair,” an awareness campaign to end unfair international trade practices, various celebrities sat for photos with renowned photographer Greg Williams. Now you can own one of these autographed, one of a kind, pieces of art – while helping victims of Katrina and Pakistan’s earthquake. In an eBay auction starting at 3 p.m. December 21 and ending 3 p.m. December 31, Oxfam America will be auctioning framed, autographed posters of Chris Martin, Colin Firth, Minnie Driver, and Djimon Hounsou. All the money raised from this auction will help Katrina victims and hundreds of thousand of displaced Pakistanis who now face a brutal winter. Check out these posters and place your bid at: http://www.oxfamauction.org.

Michael Stipe, Chris Martin and Friends Raise Awareness of the Continued Plight of Hurricane Katrina Survivors

R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe will release a charity EP featuring six versions of a song, "In the Sun," which the singer hopes will remind the public about the continued suffering of survivors of Hurricane Katrina. One version, a duet with Coldplay's Chris Martin, will premiere on the "Grey's Anatomy" post Super Bowl episode on February 5th and then will be made available for digital download exclusively through the iTunes Music Store the following day. All proceeds will go directly to Mercy Corps, via the In The Sun Foundation, to aid those in the Gulf Coast affected by the August tragedy.

"The news cycle has moved on and I don't want the public to forget about those who were affected by Katrina or to believe that everything is fine now," says Stipe, a Georgia native with family roots in the Gulf region. "Things are not fine. The storm is still impacting people's lives in very real ways and many have been left desperate. I want to remind each of us that as humans, and certainly as Americans, it is our responsibility to help those in need."

"Disasters like this require a long-term commitment to recovery," said Mercy Corps CEO Neal Keny-Guyer. "Michael is serving a very important need by reminding the public that this reconstruction effort is going to take years, not months."

To that end, Stipe chose to cover a powerful, anthemic ballad written by singer/songwriter Joseph Arthur, whom he became aware of through R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck. "The first time Joseph and I spoke, he was in New Orleans," Stipe says, "and I had to call a New Orleans number to reach him to have that first conversation. When I saw what happened with Katrina, 'In the Sun' came to mind. He writes from a very deep, intuitive place."

When it came time to record, it wasn't hard for Stipe to recruit the artists who participated in the project. In addition to the duet with Coldplay's Chris Martin, Justin Timberlake and will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas) contributed a remix of the song that will also be available for download. Also involved were Fountains of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger, who plays piano, and former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha, who produced the song with Stipe and Arthur at Stratosphere Sound studio in New York City.

"In The Sun" will make its primetime network debut on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," one of the most-watched television shows of the season. Produced by Touchstone Television, "Grey's Anatomy" is a medical drama about young interns struggling to become doctors and doctors struggling to remain human. "We feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to debut this amazing piece of music on our Super Bowl episode of 'Grey's Anatomy.' It is all the more gratifying that the song's proceeds are going to such a worthy cause," says Executive Producer Betsy Beers.

In addition to the EP's release, a short film, also entitled "In the Sun," will air on the Sundance Channel this spring. It features interviews with Stipe, Martin, Arthur, will.i.am, Iha, historian Douglas Brinkley, hurricane survivors still trying to pick up the pieces of their lives, and many of the volunteers trying to help them do it. The film, which was directed by noted photographer and Grammy-nominated video director Danny Clinch, also includes original footage of the current state of the devastation shot over three days in early January. It was produced by cYclops LLC and 3 on the Tree Productions for Stipe's In The Sun Foundation and made possible by the Sundance Channel.

Wanting to do his part to help residents of the Gulf Coast was natural for the Decatur, Georgia-born Stipe. Not only has R.E.M spent a lot of time in New Orleans, but the band's most beloved and best-selling album, "Automatic For the People," was recorded there. "It's a city that has its own legend," he says. "It's a unique place, not only to this country but to the world. I had to do something as a Southerner. I had to do something as a public figure. The one thing I can do is sing, and it's probably the best way to get people to pay attention."

Some of the lyrics [from the snippets].

I don’t know anymore what it’s for
I’m not even sure
If there is anyone who is in the sun
Will you help me to understand
Cause I’ve been caught inbetween all you wish for
And all you need/seem
Maybe you’re not even sure
What it’s for anymore than me

The gods with be with you always
The good will be with you
I know I would apologise
If I could see in your eyes
Cause when you showed me myself
You know…

The lyrics should be the same as the official In the Sun track though, right? I believe that song is a cover, Joseph Arthur is the original singer.

And thanks for the snippet link! In the Austin City Limits vid, before singing In the Sun Michael Stipe says something like "..this is from a project we're working on" and I always wondered what project and who exactly was was working on it. I thought it was just REM! The songs sound great.

REM and Coldplay team up for charity
Stipe and Martin make sweet music together
REM's Michael Stipe has teamed up with Coldplay's Chris Martin for a charity single to continue aid for Hurricane Katrina victims.

This Sunday, following the Super Bowl (February 5) Stipe's duet with Martin on the Joseph Arthur-penned song 'In the Sun' will premiere on US television drama 'Grey's Anatomy'.

The following day it will be available for purchase solely on iTunes, with proceeds going to benefit Mercy Corps .

"The news cycle has moved on and I don't want the public to forget about those who were affected by Katrina or to believe that everything is fine now," Stipe said in a statement yesterday.

He added: "It's a unique place, not only to this country but to the world. I had to do something as a Southerner. I had to do something as a public figure. The one thing I can do is sing, and it's probably the best way to get people to pay attention."

The song features piano by Fountains Of Wayne's Adam Schlesinger and production by Stipe with ex-Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha.

In addition to the duet with Martin, the single will be available in a number of formats on iTunes, including a live version recorded by Coldplay and Stipe at the Texas music festival Austin City Limits earlier this year, as well as a remix by Justin Timberlake and Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am.

'In The Sun' will also be featured in a documentary film of the same name, which airs on US cable network the Sundance Channel later this year. Stipe, Martin and a number of hurricane survivors are interviewed in the picture.

The full track listing of 'In the Sun' is:

Michael Stipe - In the Sun (Gulf Coast Relief) (Feat. Chris Martin)
Michael Stipe - In the Sun (JAW Breakers Remix) (Feat. Chris Martin, Mix by Justin Timberlake and will.i.am)

i have no idea if it was posted before, but i used search with "child alive" and couldn't find any related threads.
personally i think AIDS is one of the biggest problem in the world and we,people should care about it very seriously...it was said million times before,so i don't repeat it one more time.
Coldplay are one of the artists who support this idea.
we have to be proud that "our fave guys" care about most important problems and do against it.

Thanks for the heads up for that, Nik.

Okay, so I have an idea that I've been milling around in my head. We know that Coldplay is very active in many charitable organizations, and I'm sure that many people on these boards who are very conscious of the plight of those who know the meaning of the word 'survival' up close and personal. It is difficult to know what we can do, on an individual level, for those who need help. One thing is for certain, charity organizations are always needing money to help provide healthcare and basic food assistance to those in need. Even though it may not seem like a few donated dollars (or whatever currency your country uses) will make a difference, but at least it is something.

So this is my proposal: together we can choose a charity or multiple charities (perhaps ones that Coldplay support), and then, for those who are able, pledge to donate some money every month. We could start up a thread for this, and if you donate, simply post "I donated to _____ charity and I'm helping to ______"......this way we could encourage each other to give and potentially donate a lot of money if people get really into it. We could even try to have a monetary goal to reach, and a few of us could keep tally (I'd be willing). Let me know what you all think! I think we could make a difference.

victaniac

That'd be beyond awesome Lunar! Great idea.. I'd definitely be willing pitch in!

Some Coldplay-supported organizations:

Make Trade Fair
Make Poverty History
Oxfam
Planet Save
Water Aid
Amnesty USA
Amnesty International

That's true about the underage thing...if that is the case, the 'underagers' can kindly ask their parents for assistance. :D I'm sure most parents would gladly help out as well. :)

Whoa, lunar1126, you read my mind!! When I opened this thread I thought the same thing before I saw your post, but I couldn't have said it better myself.

I'd be very, very willing to donate some of my money to a "Coldplaying Cause".

Perhaps to get people interested, and make people want to give some spare dollars, we could make this a big deal on here. At a lot of U2 shows I see people who meet at shows from forums brings big signs (such as "ZOOTOPIANS UNITED AGAINST POVERTY"). They've gotten a lot of attention from the guys. Maybe if we donated on a whole, then made signs like "Coldplaying Members for Fair Trade", brought them to our shows, it could spark some interest from the guys.

I'm not saying that that's what it'd take for ME to do it. But it could appeal to some people who may be more ambivalent about giving to charity. Make it fun and cool (almost like a giving "club"?) and it could be successful.

By the way, Nik, thanks for the link. I bought a couple of the armbands at my show back in August, but I never was aware what this cause was exactly.

Danielle, I like your idea!...turning it into a club type thing. I DO want to turn it into a VERY big deal....with announcements and stickies all over the place!!! :P Just kidding....kinda.

Main thing is, I don't people to feel like they have to donate a lot. Just a few dollars here and there can go a looong way in making a difference in a someones life.

Guys, I'm really excited about this! Do you think Ian will have any concerns about it?

Hm.... I don't know any other organizations, but I'll start scouring the internet for ones!

We'll have to make sure it's very, very reliable. We know that Amnesty, Oxfam, etc (the ones you listed) are. But a lot of times you can end up giving to something and getting completely ripped off. That's what scares a lot of people away from charity. Maybe if we make it part of this site, people will KNOW it's reliable and will want to give. A buck here, 2 bucks there, another buck here... It ALL makes a difference.

We'll have to figure this out though, along with Ian. It'd be hard to have people give THROUGH here. I don't even know how that'd work. But then again, we can't rely on people to actually donate on the sites.... that may be our only option though....

Either way, it'd take work setting up a charity "causeway" in here, but it'd be worth it!

Doctors without Borders (http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/)

Yeah, I agree that any charities that we list will have to be looked into to make sure they are reputable. As for people giving 'thru' this site....I don't know how we'd set that up exactly. It would really just be an honor system type of deal and we'd have to trust that people would have enough heart not to lie about such a matter.

I added those to the listy above lunar! :D

And definitely an_cat. Some of the organizations I listed I took from this interview where Chris was naming and talking about them.. and I wrote them down and looked them up. And others I got from from the Coldplay tour program book thing, so those are very realiable.

Not sure how we could give through this site. Maybe someone can set up a paypal account named after the charity and we can all donate there. There can be a sort of post where everyone is kept updated in how much money goes in and out. But, the person would have to be tremendously, megalistic trustworthy because anyone can run with the money.

Or! Maybe a few people can have access to the paypal account and that way if something's missing someone will know. Though again, this takes a lot of trust as well.

I thought about paypal as well, but it is too risky I'm afraid, and I don't think many people would be comfortable with that idea. :( We could just have people just donate individually and then PM someone (we could have an accountant type person) how much they were able to give. That's is one way to keep tally of the total money raised. But again, people could lie about how much they donated or if they donated at all. Humm....

I know.. maybe if we call the section (I'm getting ahead of myself! :laugh4: Assuming we get one) something like an_cat mentioned above, "Coldplaying Members for Fair Trade" lets say, and the section can focus first on things like making banners for concerts, or making loads of small messages to pass out during the shows (maybe with the addy of the donating place we're thinking of), similar to the Happy Birthday Chris one that got media attention, and just have other means of people contributing besides donating money. If we have other ways for people to help, maybe no one will feel the need to lie about donating because they're helping out in other ways? It still doesn't guarantee it, though.

Yeah, at some point we're just going to have to put a little faith in people. :P But true...encouraging people to help out in various ways may lessen the motive to lie. Buttons, banners, posters...all great ideas.

If this ever gets its own section, I'd love to open discussions about how people can directly and indirectly help others, either by helping out in your community or recycling more. Start a real movement!

I most certainly will do that, asking around for ideas:D From what I notice, though, is that it is private donations (people giving directly to the charity through the websites, etc), but people really rally together and make it a big thing. They get excited about giving, etc etc.

I love the idea of having a seperate facet of this forum dedicated to the better good! I'm very into humanitarian action, so I'd be very willing to help organize this!

lunar1126
28-03-2006, 04:04 AM
^ If this has been successful with U2 fans, I'm sure we can learn a lot from how they've set it up. I agree that private donations would just be best....bypassing any complicated shared paypal type account. And yeah, the idea is just to get people revved up about helping others. Having a goal to work towards is just for motivation and for fun, but nothing too serious or too difficult to keep track of. Before we ask Ian about getting a separate section of the boards for this, we can start a thread and gauge the response...

lunar1126

It's the least I could do lunar!

So, I guess we would ask Ian for out own forum and get people involved?

Like there could be a pinned thread for links, graphics/promotional, FAQs and the like.

And then there could be a thread for donations to certain charities, like "Make Trade Fair = $367 so far" with people reporting in. And then other threads for organizing functions at concerts, where people going to the same gig could plan and coordinate.

I actually thought of a flyer situation. Where some fans could pass out a couple hundred flyers with the equal sign on the front, and then on the back a link, info and instructions on the bottom reading "Hold this flyer high during 'Politik' and give the world love over this." Or something. Do you know how incrediably gobsmacked the guys would be?

Anywho... just some brainstorming. :D

I'm very excited about this!

I was thinking of waiting before asking Ian for our own section of the board, but it does seem like there is enough interest!! And yeah, there would be pinned threads about what we're all about, and separate threads for different charities is a good idea.

Love the '= poster' idea! That would be fab. At the concerts there are already MTF booths and people running around collecting signatures, but I think most people are just too caught up in the moment to be bothered to stop. Flyers to hold up during the concert would be a better way of getting people to actually pay attention to this cause. (and yeah, just imagine what kinda reaction we'd get outta the guys...! they'd be so proud of their fans! :laugh4:) We could design buttons and t-shirts and have these proceeds go to charity too.

I'm going to start making a master list of all these wonderful ideas everyone has...

Here's some other ideas I pitched to the lovely lunar!

-Posters for concerts (Something like what an_cat suggested "Coldplaying Members for Fair Trade" is nice.)

-Small slips of paper (maybe like the size of a those small cue-cards, or like the Happy Birthday Chris ones that fans made on Chris' bday) that can be passed out during concerts. Not sure what we'd put on them, maybe write a few things fans can do to help or get involved and some useful websites?

-Writing to our local shops about using fair trade coffee, rice.. etc. and we can post their replies and things. We can also help each other write formal letters (so they take it seriously) or we can design a letter everyone can use.

-Someone can design a flier and post it, so all of us can print a few and post them around our neighborhood or school bulletins or work, etc.

This is a great idea...i'm definatley in ;)

Here's another charity that the boys are patrons for...

Bid on some pieces of music history at the Rock 'n' Roll Auction & Concert Preview Party on Wednesday night at the Pageant.

An announcement of upcoming concerts at UMB Bank Pavilion is a highlight of the annual event, at which music fans buy items autographed by some of their favorite artists. Proceeds benefit Kids Alive and Music Alive music programs at St. Cecilia Academy, Carlane Middle School Music Camp and Webster Community Music Schools.

Guitars bearing the autographs of top stars are always big sellers, with the bidding usually starting about $1,500. Signed posters are also popular, and this year's selection will feature such artists as David Bowie, 50 Cent, the Allman Brothers, Coldplay and Elvis Costello.

A Rolling Stones package includes a tour poster, set list, backstage pass and a photo of each Stone. A U2 package features similar items, but none of the U2 or Stones items are autographed.

Billy Idol signed a wedding guest book ("White Wedding," get it?). Cedric the Entertainer signed copies of the two "Barbershop" DVDs.

Personality Smash of KFTK (97.1) and KTVI-TV (Channel 2) will be the host, and Mark Howald of Ivey-Selkirk will be the auctioneer.

Admission is $10 without an invitation. A silent auction begins at 5 p.m., followed by the concert announcements at 6:30 and the auction at 7.

[More info about the auction can be found at the UMB Bank Pavilion.]

Ok, just to summarize everything so far:

Main idea: Create a club of Coldplay fans that wish to individually do their small part to help those who need it most, and collectively attempt to make a difference. Together we can promote a spirit of giving by following the example Coldplay has set. We can support charities, raise awareness for selected issues at concerts, as well as in our own communities, and encourage each other to get involved and take action in any way that we can. Hopefully we will be able to create a separate section on these boards dedicated to organizing and coordinating these efforts (please Ian??). :)

Some ideas: (thanks an_cat, Vic and Frostbitepanda for your great ideas, and everyone else who has expressed interest so far!)

* Donating to charity: a few dollars can go a long way, especially if we all manage to save a little and give a little. It would be fun to set up different threads for separate charities and keep track of how much money is donated to each one. Charities can include ones that Coldplay supports, as well as any others that we find creditable and worthy. Of course keeping a reliable record of how much money is being donated is a tricky business. Victaniac had the wonderful idea of setting up a group email account to which ‘donation (email) receipts’ could be forwarded (after donating, an email confirmation including your donated amount usually follows, so we'd just send that along to the group email). Logistics need to be worked out, but a few people could have access to the email to keep the group up to speed about donation progress. Any other ideas in regard to this?

* As an off shoot from the charity idea, I think it would be great to sponsor a child through Save the Children (http://www.savethechildren.org/sponsorship/index.asp?stationpub=hpbasbutton). We would need to pool together the equivalent/minimum of $28 dollars a month…maybe we could open a paypal account just for this? Please check out the website. :nice:

* Make signs, posters/banners, and flyers to hand out at concerts to get other fans attention and hey, maybe even the guys’ attention too. :P Information on these could include useful websites and ideas how people can get more involved. We could have volunteer sign up sheets for each show for people to print and pass information out, etc. This tour is almost over, but if we get organized really quickly maybe we can do something for the Isle of Wright show in June. Frostbitepanda had the awesome idea of making flyers with the MTF equal sign on the front, with links and info on the back, including instructions reading (i.e.) "Hold this flyer high during 'Politik' and give the world love over this." (like the Happy Birthday Chris signs). :laugh4:

* Making posters and stuff could be expensive…one idea would be to design a club logo/club title by which we could identify ourselves, and then make our own buttons/t-shirts which we could sell (to ourselves and to others). Perhaps the extra money generated here could be put toward group project costs? Since there are so many talented souls on these boards, we could have a little contest for a group statement and logo! Yay, fun! :D

* Design a flier that we can all post around our neighborhood, on school bulletins or at work, etc.

* Write to local shops about using fair trade coffee, rice, etc or even higher up governmental offices about issues we are passionate about, and then post any responses we get. We can also help each other write formal letters (so they take it seriously) or we can design a form letter everyone can use.

If we got our own section we could have:
* Stickied threads for FAQs, charity links, group graphics, flyers, etc, promotional activities, etc
* Threads where we can bounce ideas off each other on how we can take a more active role in helping others.
* Stimulating threads discussing global issues (AIDS, global warming, famine, overpopulation, etc etc). It is important that we learn from each other and better educate ourselves.

I absolutely love this idea!!!!! I love the idea of PDF file pamphlets! We'll just have to be careful about the idea of passing those out at a show's venue. Sometimes places can be very funky about things getting passed out, since it leads to competition or people throwing the papers on the ground, you know? So we'd have to check on that.

But even pamphlets for people to post around school! I'm not much of a computer artist, but I'd be more than willing to supply text to some of them...!

Anymore ideas for names? We need more. I tried to think of some but I'm so horrible at this type of stuff! And I also wasn't too sure if we want to have "coldplaying" on the name...but here they are anyway.

Politik(ing?) Our Place
Coldplaying for Fair Play (our motto??)
(we would call ourselves POPers? .. :laugh4:)

Brothers & Sisters Unite(d?)
Coldplaying for Fair Play
(BSUer? or BSUser?)

Parachuters (oozing with cheese, I know )
Coldplaying for Fair Play

I have more but God do they suck! :laugh4: And I also found a nice site that focuses on helping out locally. If we ever get this whole thing together, we can post stuff that we've done or maybe recommend certain activities to others.. pretty cool site. helpyourcommunity.org (http://www.helpyourcommunity.org/)

Hey guys, sorry I've been MIA for a few days (internet was down)...

I just started a new thread (http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28988) with a repost of the 'summary of ideas'...hopefully now more people will take notice!! :)
