Well, since I live in Canada, I suppose I've heard all bands. I gotta say, Can. Music is not like american nor british music, it can be really good, but at the same time really boring if you listen to it all days. A really good canadian band in the moment is Nickelback, i want to say also Arcade Fire, but their album is mediocre. However, if you listen to Can. Music, you must not forget the French music (from Quebec). Bands like La Chicane Cowboys Fringants are not for missing.

The Arcade Fire.. does it matter if not all band members are from Canada?

Nope, they're based in Montreal, and most of the members are Canadian. They've won Juno awards.

In a funny way, they're more of a Canadian ideal than they might have been, because of the way that they're from all over. Canada supposedly prides itself on being a mosaic rather than a melting pot, and there are so many influences in their music doing just that.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor. I deeply respect them, even though their music always gives me the feeling that it is very inaccessible and somewhat scary.
