I don't know why everyone rags on country... it's not bad. There are a bunch of whiney bastards, yes, but there's some good stuff.

A lot better then that punk shit, if you ask me.

I was going to reply earlier but didnt bother. Now my soul is at risk...

Yes, country isnt that bad. I enjoy Johnny Cash especially and there are some great country songs.

The comparison with punk is a good one, because in the same way people see Country as recycled crap is even worse on the Punk music scene.

Punk is way worse.

LOL me too he was the greatest...

I remember on a trip with loads of people on a minibus when I was about 15/16 and we had a Garth Brooks Reuinted Karoke (god!!!1) - It was the funniest night of my life hahahah... I remember this one guy was really going for it.. singing..

"I will sail my vessel
'Til the river runs dry
Like a bird upon the wind
These waters are my sky
I'll never reach my destination
If I never try
SO I WILL SAIL MY VESSELLL....
TIL THE RIIIIVERRR RUNNS DRYYYYYY"

I still know him and he considers himself to be quite the ladies man :sneaky: OH if those ladies only knew

Real country is tolerable (not that I would ever listen to it, unless forced). I just can't stand the kind that is played nowadays where it is butched country, made to sound like pop.

i like alison krauss...she has an angelic voice, but then most of her material ruins it for me.

Justine has a good point there.

Some AWFUL pop-country going around. Shania Twain did it decently, but some people are ugh...

I wouldnt say I'm a huge country music fan, but I do confess I like Garth Brooks, he has some quality songs

a few great country songs that aren't all stereotypically twangy:

Kenny Chesney - I Remember, I Go Back

Toby Keith - Good To Go To Mexico

Brad Paisley - Who Needs Pictures, You Have that Effect on Me.

solid country songs - try them out...

Ugh. Bad pop with a twang. At least about 99% of the stuff that makes it onto the radio, anyway.

But yes, there is the occasional bit of real brilliance- a great song is a great song, no matter what the genre.
