Right guys - for those of you who don't know, the new album is being aired tonight in full (no ads, nothing!) on Virgin radio. It has been promised on the Geoff show which runs from 10pm-1am and Geoff has suggested it will be played from about 11pm.
If anyone has the knowhow (or wants to teach me) could they please record it!
Enjoy it everyone!

The Beatles were together about the same length of time that Coldplay have been together. In that time, they recorded over 200 songs. Amazing output, and only a handful of duds in the lot. Boring? Never. Thank goodness Coldplay paid attention and realize that songs should have a melody. :)

Music label EMI has settled a royalties dispute with Apple Corps, the publishing group founded by The Beatles, in a move that could finally enable fans to buy legal downloads of the Fab Four's hits.
LONDON (AFP) - "I can confirm that we have reached a mutually acceptable settlement and that we are not going to say anything more than that," an EMI spokeswoman told AFP.
EMI was still working towards putting The Beatles' songs, including "Let it Be," "Hey Jude" and "Come Together," on Apple Inc.'s iTunes website, she added.
News of the settlement was overshadowed, however, by a report Thursday which said Warner Music has been warned not to overpay in its takeover bid for EMI.
In afternoon trade, the share price in EMI fell 0.60 percent to 223.40 pence on London's second tier FTSE 250 index, which was lower overall.
Apple Corps -- owned by surviving Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and the widows of bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison -- had claimed that EMI owed 30 million pounds (44 million euros, 59 million dollars) in missing royalties from album sales between 1994 and 1999.
The band had begun legal proceedings in London's High Court in 2005 to recover the alleged missing funds.
The vast catalogue of Beatles hits has been barred from legal Internet download sites at the band's insistence, despite protests from EMI, which owns their recording rights.
Beatles' songs have long circulated on the Internet as unlicensed downloads, available from peer-to-peer sites, but industry analysts say a decision to release them would be a boon for the legal downloading industry.
British newspaper The Daily Telegraph had reported earlier Thursday that EMI and Apple Corps had agreed to settle the case at the end of March -- but added that the terms of the settlement were confidential.
The two sides could now reach an agreement on new royalties for the sale of Beatles' songs over the Internet, particularly on the iTunes music website, the paper added without citing its source.
Earlier this month, EMI said it would offer songs from its artists for download without copy protection as part of a deal with iTunes, which is touted by iPod maker Apple as the world's most popular digital music store.
EMI, the world's third-largest music group, has said it will begin to sell music without anti-piracy software over the Internet from May, but did not specify a launch date.
The announcement only covered EMI's existing digital catalogue -- which includes the likes of Coldplay, Madonna and Robbie Williams.
Elsewhere, London's Daily Telegraph newspaper reported Thursday that a key Warner Music shareholder has said the music group should not consider paying "anything near" the 320 pence per share it offered for EMI last year.
Scott Sperling, co-president of Thomas H Lee Partners, which owns 37.2 percent of Warner, reportedly told the Reuters Hedge Funds and Private Equity Summit in New York that sliding profits and growth at EMI were becoming "increasingly problematic,", affecting any price Warner might now offer.
EMI had last month rejected a fresh informal takeover bid by Warner claiming the cash offer worth 260 pence a share, or 2.08 billion pounds (3.07 billion euros, 4.05 billion dollars) was "inadequate."

The first single from Paul McCartney's upcoming album Memory Almost Full will be released to radio on Friday (April 20th). The news of the single, called "Ever Present Past," was posted on the chat board for studio technician Steve Hoffman's website. It was on Hoffman's site that the tracklisting and description of the upcoming album was first leaked.
The track was described on the website stevehoffman.tv as being, "Musically quirky -- McCartney II (album) fans will love this one -- hooky and clever with great lyrics, addictive robotic rhythm, nifty distorted guitar riffs and terrific double-tracked vocals. Fully realized top-drawer 'Macca Pop' in every respect, (with the) opening line: 'I've got too much on my plate -- I've got no time to be a decent lover.' A+"
There's been no official release date set for the single of "Ever Present Past," but a video reportedly was shot for the album's lead-off track, "Dancing Tonight," starring Natalie Portman and The Office star Mackenzie Crook. Memory Almost Full will be released on June 5th.
Steve Hoffman is a well respected album mastering engineer, who is responsible for conforming digital sound and analog tape into either a vinyl LP or compact disc.
Ringo Starr's longtime producer Mark Hudson first worked with McCartney in 1997. He says that McCartney has more than earned the right to be as experimental as he wants to be: "There's a weird thing about getting older and being relevant. And sometimes we try to be, 'Oh, we better sound like Coldplay or Radiohead, 'cause that's what's happening now.' And I think that when it come to the Beatles, they have nothing else to prove other than being what they wanna be. And if they wanna stretch out and try something new, they could do a polka album -- 'cause they paid their dues and done their stuff."

First of all, if you don't like the beatles, don't let people tell you that you are wrong and have no musical taste. I don't get why people feel the need to like the Beatles just because they are SUPPOSED to like them. How many of you would honestly play a shitty Beatles CD in your spare time? None - exactly! So stop kidding yourselves. All music now is better than the Beatles. That is a fact. The Beatles were revolutionary, but all modern music has builded upon the Beatles' solid foundation. Everyone now has improved on the Beatles in every single way, yet I will get shut down for saying that. But that isn't a dig at the Beatles - just the truth. Everyone has copied what the Beatles did but improved on all of their weaknessed, from songwriting to the actual music (which is a compliment to the Beatles that they ARE the band who people copy). But to say music now is worse than the Beatles just because the Beatles were "the first" is plain stupid. Take off your biased blinkers and realize that the Beatles served their purpose and now music is moving on, and more importantly - improving.
Ringo Star
Ringo is obviously the least talented. How the hell did this guy get the job? Were the other three so fucked up at the time that Ringo actually sounded good to them? The rest of the band must have sobered up enough a couple of times to make sure Ringo's track was turned down for the final cut, however. Talk about a white guy with no rhythm. Hell, a random search of the London pubs would result in a better drummer. What's the difference between Ringo and a stopped watch? The watch is actually on time twice a day. You know it's bad when 'Yellow Submarine' was his shining moment!
Paul McCartney
Paul and Linda's "I know what's best so I'm not going to serve meat at my concert" shit definitely brings them up to second place. Apparently that clean living didn't quite work out as planned for them. I think it's a wake up call to live your life to its fullest, perhaps in place of surfing the net reading Beatles pages. And don't give me this great songwriting line of bull. Anyone can write a song in 4/4 time with 3 or 4 chords.
George Harrison
Well, he's dead. Can we now please stop releasing songs from dead guys? That "Set on you" bit a few years back almost had George beat out Paul on the list. One or two more of those and he would have definitely taken the title.
John Lennon
John is probably the least least talented. I won't say the most talented, because that would imply some sort of talent actually existed. But I have to wonder about a guy who hangs around with Yoko.

All music now is better than the Beatles. That is a fact.
that's definitely false... you can't say for example.. all the movies now are better than the movies of 30 years ago... it's not about a year .. it's about quality I guess
But to say music now is worse than the Beatles just because the Beatles were "the first" is plain stupid.
you can't generalize... I'm agree that's stupid.. even if the beatles are one of the best bands ever there's some really good bands out there.. and lots of bands that are better but unknown.
Take off your biased blinkers and realize that the Beatles served their purpose and now music is moving on, and more importantly - improving.
as we have some great bands now... there's also really crappy music... I don't need to give examples of that
Anyone can write a song in 4/4 time with 3 or 4 chords.

What a complete and utter waste of time. The person assumes people like The Beatles because they think they have to - which is impossible to prove. Says "The Beatles were revolutionary" but then calls their music "shitty".
What a child. :)
I mean, I like a large musical portion of The Beatles but I dislike a whole lot too. Should I try my hardest to change other peoples minds about what type of music they like or even which Beatles songs they should favour? no.
Flippant passing comments about musicial tastes are all well and good but when has anyone argued about music with someone and changed their mind in the end? I can't say I have ever witnessed that...it's a complete life drainer.
Why couldn't that person put the effort into something that actually means something and could better their life?
Because arguing something with such a safe outcome (i.e - where nobody has to change by the end of it) is probably easier for them.
Sad.

The problem is not about not liking The Beatles, Marek.
Everybody may like or dislike anything and The Beatles is just a music band after all, you don't have to adore it if you don't feel that way.
But it would be okay if you wrote something like that guy did by yourself, than we'd be sure you actually know anything about The Beatles.
And what do you do? You quote someone and post it here, so that we can all guess that you probably haven't ever even heard that much of The Beatles, so you can only say something like 'they suck' or 'they're not even a band for me'.
It sounds so fucking lame, don't you get it? It just seems like you don't even know much about The Beatles and just want to seem 'unique' and 'cool', which, knowing you, is quite possible.
Oh and I don't even excpect you to answer something thoughtful to this.

Thank you will...
I like the Beatles, but i do think they are overrated. they were groundbraking, amazing, especially for their time. but it's annoying as hell when music critics constantly put them on the pedestal as some sort of rock'n'roll deities. it's almost as if Rolling Stone felt obligated to put Sgt. Pepper's at #1 and another 3 of their albums in the top 10 on the best albums of all time list. just my humble opinion.
Marek.. for ur own sake, just shut up

That is totally uncalled for. I can understand respectful sharing of opinion, but not name-calling and outright bashing. You make it sound like it's some horrible CRIME to like The Beatles. I'm not saying I'm a big fan of The Beatles, I don't listen to them daily, I've got maybe two or three songs of theirs on my iPod, but I don't go around reposting mean-spirited articles. There is nothing wrong with liking a certain band. Saying that "no one likes The Beatles" is a broad blanket statement and a silly one at that. Have some respect, if not for the band, then at least for people who like them. I'm sure you have a friend who loves The Beatles. Would you intentionally hurt their feelings just to get your point that you hate the band across? I doubt it.

I don't get how music is better now than it was in the time of the Beatles? You raise some points about people overhyping the Beatles, but the fact remains that they were an incredible band. When you say music is better, I think what you are really trying to say is that music today is more relevant to our times. I mean sure, today's music sounds better than the Beatles, but thats because he Beatles made music back n the 60s when popular music was in a different phase than it is today.
The fact is that the Beatles are timeless and can still be listened to today. The compillation cd Beatles 1 released just years ago is one of the biggest selling compilation albums of all time. Obviously millions upon millions of people still listen to the Beatles and think they are good.

why don't you actually try to prove that the Beatles are "shit"? I dare you, because you'll be wasting your time. They were (and still are) geniuses, and there's no possible way you could prove me otherwise. Saying the Beatles suck is just like saying air sucks: we wouldn't be alive without air and music as we know it certainly wouldn't exist without the Beatles.

If you don't like The Beatles, then fine - it's totally down to personal taste.
However, anybody who can't respect their creativity, what they did for pop music, and just how many bands they've influenced obviously has no real understanding or love of music.
I'm sure Coldplay have been influenced by The Beatles' sound in one way or another, so that should tell you a lot.;)

In this time of new coldplay and waiting for releases it makes me think about how astonishing the Beatles career really was. Coldplay has been together for 10 years, and are currently putting out their 4th album (A great one at that).
But think about the Beatles... The band formed in 1960, and even then, they only played clubs in Hamburg and such until they landed the record deal in 1962. From then on until their split in 1970, the Beatles released 12 studio albums. 13 in reality since the White Album is a double. In 8 years. To me that is astonishing.
Not only that, but they were releasing singles that weren't even on these albums. Oh just little songs such as Day Tripper, Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, and Paperback writer.
What these four men did to change music is unfathomable today. Not only did they pioneer the rock sound we hear today, and write some of the most recognized and celebrated melodies in history, they wrote them at an astonishing pace.
Celebrate the Beatles. Thank you John, Paul, George, and Ringo and RIP John and George.

Ringo Starr: Don't send me any more fan mail
By GREGORY KATZ, Associated Press Writer
Tue Oct 14, 11:22 AM ET
"Ringo Starr doesn't want to hear from you. If you do write, your letter will end up in the trash. After 45 years of stardom, he doesn't want to spend any more time answering mail or sending signed photos back to fans.
The fan fatigue led the former Beatles drummer to post a sometimes angry sounding short video clip on his Web site telling fans that any mail sent to him after Oct. 20 will not be read or answered. British television stations broadcast the video on Tuesday.
"It's going to be tossed," he says on the video. "I'm warning you with peace and love, I have too much to do. So no more fan mail. Thank you, thank you. And no objects to be signed. Nothing. Anyway, peace and love, peace and love."
The drummer and singer did not elaborate on the reason behind his decision to cut off a major point of contact with his many fans.
Starr, 68, has maintained a very active touring and recording schedule in recent years, drawing large crowds for performances with his All-Starr band.
The band plays a mix of old Beatles hits, Starr's many solo offerings, and other classics from the 1960s and 1970s. Starr usually serves as front man, though he sometimes plays the drums.
But he has angered longtime fans in Liverpool by telling interviewers that he does not miss his native city. Vandals there beheaded a topiary sculpture of Starr earlier this year — he was the only one of the four Beatles whose likeness was desecrated.
The good-natured drummer, who also enjoyed a brief acting career after star turns in Beatles' films "A Hard Day's Night" and "Help!," guest starred on a 1991 episode of "The Simpsons" in which he is shown scrupulously answering every piece of fan mail that comes his way.
"They took the time to write to me, and I don't care if it takes 20 years, I'm going to answer every one of them," Starr says on the show.
In his mail, he finds a package from Marge Simpson that contains a portrait she painted of him back in the Beatles heyday. He puts it on his wall and writes back to tell her — a few decades late — how much he likes her painting."
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081014/ap_on_en_mu/eu_people_ringo_starr&printer=1;_ylt=Aut2fQZoxyGKuiQpwhNZqzEnHL8C
What does everyone think of this? Personally, I don't think a person can get much snobbier than this. Has all this fame FINALLY gone to his head? This is absurd, and I'll just laugh when he comes begging for mail after his mailbox is only filled with unpaid bills. Peace and love my ass! Ringo's actions only make me love Paul more and more!
I love Ringo but this is really absurd, he is what he is because of his fans!

LONDON, England (CNN) -- A "lost" Beatles track recorded in 1967 and performed just once in public could finally be released, according to Paul McCartney.http://i.cdn.turner.com/cnn/.element/img/2.0/mosaic/base_skins/baseplate/corner_wire_BL.gif
"Carnival of Light" -- a 14-minute experimental track recorded at the height of the Beatles' musical experimentations with psychedelia and inspired by avant-garde composers such as Karlheinz Stockhausen -- has long been considered too adventurous for mainstream audiences.
In an interview for BBC radio, McCartney said his bandmates and their producer George Martin had vetoed its inclusion on the exhaustive 1990s "Anthology" collection, according to UK's The Observer newspaper.
McCartney confirmed he still owned the master tapes, adding that he suspected "the time has come for it to get its moment," The Observer reported. "I like it because it's the Beatles free, going off piste," McCartney said.
Almost everything recorded by the Beatles from their early days in Liverpool and Hamburg to their break-up in 1970 has been released to meet insatiable public appetite for anything to do with the legendary Liverpool quartet.
In the 40 years since its recording, "Carnival of Light" has acquired near mythical status among Beatles fans who argue that the existence of the track provides evidence of the group's experimental ambitions beyond their commercially successfully pop career.
The improvised work features distorted electric guitars, discordant sound effects, a church organ and gargling interspersed with McCartney and John Lennon shouting random phrases like "Barcelona" and "Are you all right?"
McCartney would need the consent of Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, and George Harrison's widow, Olivia Harrison, to release the track.

Ah, look at all the lonely people (Violin)
Ah, look at all the lonely people (Violin)
Remember the awesome yet sad song of the Beatles?
The Mystery reamains who Eleanor Rigby really is....
Some say shes fiction
Some say shes real but dead as of now and the story about her in the song is really true.
Here are the lyrics to refreshen your mind on how sad the story and song goes......
Lyrics:
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Ah, look at all the lonely people
Eleanor rigby picks up the rice in the church where a wedding has beenLives in a dream
Waits at the window, wearing the face that she keeps in a jar by the door
Who is it for?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from ?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong ?
Father mckenzie writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear:cry:
No one comes near.
Look at him working. darning his socks in the night when there's nobody there
What does he care?
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
Eleanor rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name:cry:
Nobody came:cry:
Father mckenzie wiping the dirt from his hands as he walks from the grave
No one was saved
All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?
{Sad story indeed if she is true i truelly feell sorry.but I do love this song my new fav for today!!! and its not a coldplay song...:laugh3:}
P.S. Actually their was a news article stating that someone auctioned a hospital file(cost is expensive for a beatles memoir ...if its true) on the lists of patients that were in the hospital in that time and Eleanor Rigby was signed on the list! We dont know if its true.until now....

I just found this and it's too cool to pass up:
Unreleased Beatles material surfaces online
Fans are calling the find 'the holy grail'
A previously unreleased version of The Beatles' 'Revolution 1' has found its way online.
The recording, which is supposedly 'Take 20' of the song, is available to listen to via a YouTube link below.
'Take 20' of the song is notable, as it appears to bridge the gap between The Beatles' 'Revolution 1' and 'Revolution 9'.
The main difference in the 'new' version of 'Revolution 1' and the version of the same song that appeared on 'The Beatles' (commonly known as 'The White Album') is the track's length. The unreleased version is a full seven minutes longer than its released counterpart.
Lyrically and structure-wise, the song doesn't differ wildly from the released version, although the entire second half of the unreleased version is made up of tape loops, vocal effects and studio trickery - some of which appears to have been sampled by The Beatles for use on their sample-heavy 'Revolution 9' track, which also appears on 'The White Album'.
'Take 20' of the song begins with the band talking in the studio, where John Lennon is heard saying "Take your knickers off and let's go" in a high-pitched voice.
The band then begin playing the song.
Although 'Revolution 1 (Take 20)' soon mutates into five minutes of assorted backwards singing and screaming from the band, the drums, guitars and George Harrison's vocal of "Om-shooby-do-wop" still remain throughout.
Towards the ten-minute mark, the song breaks down into a barrage of speech and from John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
Blogs across the internet are hosting the song, with some fans hailing it as 'the holy grail' of unreleased material.
However, it is yet to be officially confirmed as being authentic.

http://assets1.pitchforkmedia.com/images/original/149557.beatlesrockband_0.jpgLast year, we reported (http://www.coldplaying.com/article/news/146984-the-beatles-coming-to-a-video-game-console-near-you) that Apple Corps Ltd., the Beatles (http://www.beatles.com/core/home/)' licensing company, was teaming up with "Rock Band" (http://www.rockband.com/) developers MTV Games (http://www.mtv.com/) and Harmonix (http://www.harmonixmusic.com/) to create a new video game based on the band's music. This marks the first time that the Beatles have licensed their music for an interactive game (as opposed to, I guess, a non-interactive game). And now that game has a release date: September 9. As in: 09-09-09. Numbers!
When Apple Corps first announced the game last year, a Billboard story (http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003885509) about it said that the game "will not be part of the 'Rock Band' franchise, but will be based on the same platform." It turns out that's not actually true, unless the game's title is grossly misleading. In any case, the game will be called "Rock Band: The Beatles" (http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com/). There's also a website (http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com/), but all that's on it right now is the release date, a photo of a recording studio or rehearsal space, and a string of corporate logos.
You'll also have the opportunity to purchase "a limited number of new hardware offerings modeled after instruments used by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr throughout their career," a press release says. So they're making tiny plastic versions of the Beatles' guitars and stuff.
The game's publicists aren't releasing any further information, so we'll have to wait to find out what songs they'll include and how, exactly, they'll organize them, in this "unprecedented, experiential progression through and celebration of the music and artistry of the Beatles."

It seemed to me that Mac was sort of the organized guy that held the band together. He was seen as being really bossy by the other members which I think shows that he kept trying (maybe too hard) to keep everything on track. I prefer him to Lennon as a vocalist, and it's the piano epics like "Let it Be" "Hey Jude" and "The Long and Winding Road" that really stand out to me. Not to mention the timeless "Blackbird" on guitar.

Well the beatles were unique because, unlike most bands, they didn't have one frontman and a bunch of nameless faces (except for poor Ringo :P) in the background, I guess that's because John, Paul and George all contributed whole songs, but while I'm no expert, I like Lennon was probably the biggest face of the beatles as he was the rythm guitarist, main singer and driving lyrical force for the band.

YouTube - FG - Ringo Starr Song
Although I must say that Octopus's Garden is ridiculously catchy, and Yellow Submarine just wouldn't have been the same without Ringo singing.
Is he generally considered to be their "frontman"? I'm not super knowledgeable about the Beatles
not really, most of their songs have are credited to both Lennon and McCartney (even if just one of them wrote it), so I'd say that they both are the frontmen!
anyway, some of the most beautiful beatles songs (it's just my opinion) are George's songs (something and while my guitar gently weeps)
and Ringo... well, we love him because he's ringo  hahaha he's awesome even if he don't sing that much songs... with two GREAT songwriters it was hard for george and ringo to include their stuff in the albums :P

April 5, 2009, 2:08 am Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr Reunite at Radio City
By Jon Pareles http://graphics8.nytimes.com/images/2009/04/05/arts/05beatles.4801.jpgStephen Chernin/Associated Press
Former Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr performed at the “Change Begins Within” concert on Saturday in New York.
Half a Beatles reunion, or some approximation of it, took place Saturday night at “Change Begins Within,” a benefit concert at Radio City Music Hall for the David Lynch Foundation. Paul McCartney was headlining; Ringo Starr was also on the bill, and yes, after letting the anticipation build, the two surviving Beatles did perform together, as they did in 2002 for a memorial after the death of George Harrison.
After an exuberant set of songs from the Beatles, Wings and his solo albums, with video clips full of Beatles footage, Mr. McCartney said, “At this point we would like to introduce somebody to you who you know, you’ve heard his name. He’s going to come out here and play you a little song this joyful night. Ladies and gentlemen: Billy Shears!”
And just as on “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band,” there was Mr. Starr to sing “With a Little Help From My Friends,” sharing a microphone with Mr. McCartney during the song and embraces afterward.
It had been clear something was up when Mr. McCartney’s band appeared onstage with a second, empty drum kit set up. And Mr. Starr, who had sung “Yellow Submarine” and “Boys” during his own set, wasn’t done after the one song.
As the concert’s entire lineup–including Donovan, Sheryl Crow, Eddie Vedder, Moby, Bettye LaVette, Ben Harper and Mike Love (from the Beach Boys)–filled the stage, Mr. Starr took his place at the second drum kit. And Mr. McCartney unveiled a song that could suprise even Beatles fanatics: “Cosmically Conscious,” an excerpt of which appeared as a hidden track on his 1993 album “Off the Ground.”
Mr. McCartney explained that he wrote it during the Beatles’ 1968 sojourn to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram in Rishikesh, India for intense meditation study; two other performers at the concert, Donovan and the flutist Paul Horn, were also there. “Maharishi would always say that he wanted everyone to be cosmically conscious and he’d do his little giggle.” Mr. McCartney reminisced onstage. “He’d also say, ‘It’s such a joy.’”
Those were most of the lyrics to the song–“Come and be cosmically conscious, cosmically conscious with me/It’s such a joy joy”–on the way to a vocal-harmony la-la-la chorale that it seemed the assembled stars had rehearsed. After Mr. Lynch read a brief, benediction-like poem “of unknown origin,” Mr. McCartney called for “peace and rock and roll,” and it was back to the Beatles: “I Saw Her Standing There,” with Mr. Starr socking the backbeat behind Mr. McCartney’s still boyish enthusiasm. Afterward, Mr. Starr (who was wearing a Krishna T-shirt) flashed two-handed peace signs, jokingly upstaging Mr. McCartney, who upstaged him in return before the stage dissolved into rounds of all-star hugs.
What cause could summon that elusive event, a more-or-less Beatles reunion? Peace, human rights, poverty, AIDS, the environment? Well, no. The David Lynch Foundation supports teaching Transcendental Meditation to a million students in their schools. “Every child should have one class period a day to dive within himself,” reads the manifesto at davidlynchfoundation.org. “This is the way to save the coming generation.”
Although the Beatles’ 1968 trip to Rishikesh ended in disarray, Mr. Starr and Mr. McCartney prized their meditation mantras and have said they continue to use them. The concert was full of testimonials to Transcendental Meditation–from Mr. Lynch, Laura Dern, Jerry Seinfeld and Howard Stern as well as the musicians–along with songs about spiritual quests and nostalgia for the 1960’s and the Beatles in particular. Ms. Crow sang George Harrison’s “My Sweet Lord,” and Mr. McCartney’s set included his elegy for John Lennon, “Here Today.” No pre-announced reunion could live up to the Beatles’ legacy, so Mr. McCartney and Mr. Starr treated it as light-heartedly as they could: a few songs by old bandmates as mementos of vivid, bygone times.

THE BEATLES' ENTIRE ORIGINAL RECORDED CATALOGUE REMASTERED FOR RELEASE 09-09-09
Apple Corps Ltd. and EMI Music are delighted to announce the release of the original Beatles catalogue, which has been digitally re-mastered for the first time, for worldwide CD release on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 (9-9-09), the same date as the release of the widely anticipated "The Beatles: Rock Band" video game. Each of the CDs is packaged with replicated original UK album art, including expanded booklets containing original and newly written liner notes and rare photos. For a limited period, each CD will also be embedded with a brief documentary film about the album. On the same date, two new Beatles boxed CD collections will also be released.
The albums have been re-mastered by a dedicated team of engineers at EMI's Abbey Road Studios in London over a four year period utilising state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. The result of this painstaking process is the highest fidelity the catalogue has seen since its original release.
The collection comprises all 12 Beatles albums in stereo, with track listings and artwork as originally released in the UK, and 'Magical Mystery Tour,' which became part of The Beatles' core catalogue when the CDs were first released in 1987. In addition, the collections 'Past Masters Vol. I and II' are now combined as one title, for a total of 14 titles over 16 discs. This will mark the first time that the first four Beatles albums will be available in stereo in their entirety on compact disc. These 14 albums, along with a DVD collection of the documentaries, will also be available for purchase together in a stereo boxed set.
http://www.thebeatles.com/core/news/packaging.jpg
Within each CD's new packaging, booklets include detailed historical notes along with informative recording notes. With the exception of the 'Past Masters' set, newly produced mini-documentaries on the making of each album, directed by Bob Smeaton, are included as QuickTime files on each album. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from The Beatles, offering a unique and very personal insight into the studio atmosphere.
A second boxed set has been created with the collector in mind. 'The Beatles in Mono' gathers together, in one place, all of the Beatles recordings that were mixed for a mono release. It will contain 10 of the albums with their original mono mixes, plus two further discs of mono masters (covering similar ground to the stereo tracks on 'Past Masters'). As an added bonus, the mono "Help!" and "Rubber Soul" discs also include the original 1965 stereo mixes, which have not been previously released on CD. These albums will be packaged in mini-vinyl CD replicas of the original sleeves with all original inserts and label designs retained.
Discussions regarding the digital distribution of the catalogue will continue. There is no further information available at this time.

George Harrison’s Career-Spanning Greatest Hits Out June 16th (http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/04/14/george-harrisons-career-spanning-greatest-hits-out-june-16th/)
George Harrison’s first-ever career-spanning greatest hits collection will be released on June 16th. The announcement of Let It Roll: The Music of George Harrison comes just hours after the Beatles guitarist posthumously received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles today, April 14th. The compilation will feature songs from throughout Harrison’s career, from live takes of his biggest Beatles hits to his storied solo career. Harrison was twice inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, both as a Beatle and a solo artist. All the tracks on Let It Roll will be digitally remastered and assembled in deluxe packaging with rare and unseen photographs. The album will also be released digitally. According to the press release, Harrison’s solo hits “My Sweet Lord,” “Isn’t It A Pity,” “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)” and “Got My Mind Set On You” will all be included on the set, and you can assume the collection’s namesake track, All Things Must Pass‘ “Let It Roll,” will also make the cut. Three of Harrison’s most popular songs that he penned for the Beatles are also on the track list: “Something,” “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” and “Here Comes The Sun” from Harrison’s 1971 Concert For Bangladesh from New York’s Madison Square Garden. The full track list is expected to be announced soon.
The news of the remastered Harrison solo tracks comes only a week after plans were revealed to re-release the entire remastered Beatles catalog (http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/04/07/the-beatles-remastered-albums-due-september-9-2009/) on September 9th, 2009, the same day the Fab Four’s The Beatles: Rock Band (http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/03/05/the-beatles-rock-band-set-to-hit-stores-september-9-2009/) hits stores.
