His aunt used to be my teacher on university, and she had this strange thing on inviting her relatives every now and then to school, so, one day when he was visiting his mom here, his aunt took him to the school in order to tell us about his country (our class was about marxism and socialism) and I askk for his mail at the end... but he doesnt speak with me anymore... Seeing that the website has lain furlough for a while, we felt that we owed you an update. And we’d imagine that in the absence of official emissions misinformation is rampant. So here it is:
Things are good. Gettin’ some rest… gettin’ some sun.
We did break up – four times - but that’s all behind us now.
Carlos got a dog. His name is Gaius. Italian greyhound – looks like Carlos.
Also, I think I’m moving to Jersey City; because that’s where the action is really at.

In all seriousness, we’re hard at work on the writing of album three. We’ve been at it for six months - in case you heard we were on hiatus. We’re all very excited about it and think that you will be too. Having yet to record, we can only say that Release will come sometime next year.

We can’t offer much of a preview at present, but I can tell you we’ve got one gem in the works entitled “The Heinrich Maneuver.” And another that was called “Pawn Shop.” But that’s called something else now.

New York rock act Interpol has parted ways with indie home Matador Records and will sign a new deal with Capitol, sources say. The group is now being managed by Dave Holmes, whose clients also include Capitol flagship artist Coldplay.

Billboard.com understands the group will hit the studio in the fall to begin recording its third album, which is tentatively due in mid-2007. In July, the group wrote on its Web site that it had already spent six months crafting material but had yet to begin recording.

The quartet found immediate success with Matador thanks to its 2002 debut, "Turn on the Bright Lights," which has sold 438,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. actually it's weird, because on the cover it says: exclusive audio, video and etc. but when i put the CD into my PC...i found nothing. it's an OPENDISC and too be honest i have no idea what is it all about...i had to register online and stuff like that

however. Antics cost me around 10-11 Euro, so i'm very very glad that i found it in a shop and bought it :D

ahh the opendisc technology use to bring you to a special site you could only acces thru the disc as a key once you registered. Its no longer active since promotion for Antics is over :( It had access to songs never before heard (Song Seven, which has now been released..) and some wallpapers and such.. different projects and whatnot.. like an alternate website to their own.. it was cool.. a lot of artists use that Opendisc gimmick so you can 'buy' the cd.

If this is what we have to look forward to at fashion week, we are dead stoked. At the Raconteurs’ performance at the Prada store in Soho on Friday, beautiful waiters served Tequila Sunrises and home-made Bloody Mary shots to swarms of the most fashionable (yet rock-friendly) people in the world. Liv Tyler was there, as was Jack’s wife Karen Elson, plus Interpol’s Carlos D, Wolfmother frontman Andrew Stockdale, a bunch of models we recognized but couldn’t name, and the Goddess of Fashion herself, Anna Wintour. Meeting Iggy Pop was less scary than stalking Anna and pal Andre Leon Talley (wearing a dramatic and tres de rigeur cape) around the airy store before the Raconteur’s performance.

Just when we’d had about enough fashion bullshit (which happened when we realized we had access to the party and not the actual Raconteurs show) the band went on and after some elaborate finagling on our part we found ourselves next to Carlos (who told us Interpol is heading into the studio in three weeks!) and Sharin Foo from the Raveonettes. We totes got to watch Liv and her fellow Lord-of-the-Ringer Orlando Bloom rocking out up front, surrounded by rows of fashionable folks. (Can we just say that fashion people can not dance? They are pretty and skinny and tall and elegant and wear lots of animal skins but they dance like eighth grade boys, all elbows and no rhythm in those giant platforms.)

Anyway, who knew our love for the Raconteurs could grow even greater than it was before. They did not tone down their set in the slightest just because of the purses. The show was so loud you could hear it out on Broadway, and the band sounded incredibly clean and tight as they tore through wild thrashers like “Steady As She Goes” and mournful elegiac tunes like their cover of Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down.)” Bonus: When one of our staffers spotted Jack White and Brendan Benson awkwardly taking off their shoes to go through security at the airport the next morning, he waved, then averted his eyes. No one wants to see the man behind the curtain.

Deuce Deuce still going strong???
I get texts and calls every Wednesday asking if this is still going on and i say a definite YES!!! Been going on strong for a year now. If you haven't been back in a while you're missing out.

It's still featuring the one and only DJ Fancypants and yours truly DJ Womanmaker. A dance party to never be missed. Every Wednesday at the Darkroom starting at 11pm.

I missed them live twice! One time I actually had a ticket and got ill, the next concert was sold out (GRRRRR!) and the when I finally was at the third one I was so scared something would go wrong. I almost got sick in front of the venue. I missed the band just by seconds (I saw Daniel walking in...) but the concert was so amazing. First row, right in front of Daniel, next to a hardcore fan from Japan. Man and when they did PDA and I had Daniel right in front of me singing, that was just bliss. I was so freaking happy. Also when I heard Obstacle 1 live it was, just, wow.

Im dying to see them live again! When i saw them they were supporting coldplay. Man was that a good gig! I was also right in front of Daniel, which was awesome. All this talk makes me even more desperate to see them again!!

Xmas had officially ended with the departure of the last house guest.
my spirits were unusually high for the time of year - i'm not a big "happy holidays" kind of person. on the fly, i decided to hit my neighborhood bar to meet up with some friends. the drinks and conversation flowed. someone mentioned the band jawbox --- i interjected with my praise for them. then, i realized what was being discussed - it was not the admiration for this great, (but now defunct) redefinition of a "rock" band; it was about callum robbins, the one year old son of j. robbins (former singer/guitarist of jawbox) and how callum is stricken with spinal muscular atrophy, for which there is no cure. adding to this nightmare, treatment for SMA is far beyond a financial burden. after leaving the bar, i went home feeling a bit deflated. almost immediately i received the following link in an e-mail, from a friend whom i'd just left the bar with.

instantly i became overwhelmed with sadness and inspiration all at once...
i figured the least i could do was share little cal's story with a part of the world that i could reach... although it has yet to be confirmed, i'm in the midst of planning/curating a live callum robbins benefit in NYC, which i will also host. no date has been set, but i'll keep you informed as plan turns to action.

Struggling to find vacancy at a convenient Austin hotel for South by Southwest 07? It's no wonder. Tucked away in a handy brochure offering hotel information on the festival's website is the fest's star-studded initial lineup.
The Stooges, Interpol, Bloc Party, Lily Allen, Matt & Kim, the Watson Twins, Cold War Kids, Devin the Dude, Hoodoo Gurus, Ghostland Observatory, Stax 50th Anniversary Soul Review, Ozomatli, and Turbonegro are slated to play the music portion of the mega-event, which runs from March 14-18 (the full extravaganza, including film and "interactive" festivals, runs from March 9-18). As previously reported, Under Byen are also scheduled to perform.

Following the announcement is a line of small italic text reading, "everything subject to change," and while we hope nothing changes, we're letting you know anyway.

In addition, Pete Townshend will appear as the keynote speaker for SXSW's Music Conference. Following the keynote, which takes place on March 14, Townshend and "Attic Jam" partner Rachel Fuller will put on a March 15 show featuring some special guests. Other SXSW speakers and interviewees include David Byrne (with his presentation "Record Labels: Who Needs Them?"), Emmylou Harris, Gilberto Gil, Terry McBride, Rickie Lee Jones, Booker T, and Joe Boyd.
