<title>Behind The Scenes film revealed as Rihanna plays 'bad samurai bitch' in Princess Of China video </title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7864</link>
<description>Coldplay and Rihanna have revealed a behind the scenes footage from the shoot of their 'Princess of China' video via the ColdplayVEVO YouTube account, but the video has since been made private, according to viewers this evening. However, this hasn't stopped the video from appearing on Perez TV via the Perez Hilton celebrity website (they like the trailer by the way).

Some of the behind the scenes shots include Rihanna and Chris Martin being hoisted in the air by wires as well as the Coldplay frontman brandishing a samurai sword, while Rihanna lays comfortably on a sofa in traditional geisha attire. The accompanying music video will see Chris Martin and Rihanna team up to create an &quot;old kung-fu styled&quot; movie, according to Rihanna in the backstage footage. Jonny, Will and Guy do not feature in the video, or the Behind The Scenes footage.

Expaining the concept of the video, Rihanna says: &quot;The final concept is, like, a movie trailer to an old kung-fu film. how awesome is that, right?&quot; adding, &quot;I get to play a bad samurai bitch!&quot;

<title>Dunedin (New Zealand) ruled out of Australasian tour for 'logistical reasons'</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7863</link>
<description>It was revealed yesterday Coldplay had considered playing the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin (New Zealand), but ruled it out for logistical reasons - Dunedin airport's limitations could be another stumbling block to the city hosting top international music acts, it appears, according to the Otago Daily Times this weekend. [thanks Tash]

As we've heard in the last few days Coldplay will be touring stadiums down under on the Mylo Xylotour as they announced four dates in Australia and New Zealand. Asked yesterday if stadium representatives had tried to persuade Coldplay to play in Dunedin, Dunedin Venues Management chief executive David Davies said he had been &quot;actively involved&quot; with Coldplay's promoter over bringing the show to Dunedin, but after the promoter did some research, they decided to stick with just an Auckland show because of logistical issues.

Those were that the band's wide-bodied jet, which they used to transport their lighting rig, would be unable to fly fully laden out of Dunedin International Airport. A representative of Coldplay's Australasian promoter, Chugg Entertainment, could not be reached for comment yesterday, and Coldplay's New Zealand publicist referred questions to Chugg. But Dunedin International Airport chief executive John McCall said while he did not know what kind of jet Coldplay used, there were limitations at Dunedin because of the airport's runway.

<title>Coldplay's Oracle on sarcasm alert as questions on soundchecks, PoC video, Green Eyes (and more) are answered </title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7861</link>
<description>More questions answered by The Oracle... (over 2600 questions now answered - submit yours now!)

May 9, 2012 - submitted by Trinity, United Kingdom
Q. Hi Oracle, Do the band always do sound checks before each show? And do they ever let members of the public in to watch (with a bought ticket obviously!) In the words of Coldplay &quot;I'll see you soon!&quot; (quite literally, in 21 days :D)
The Oracle replies:
The band don't always attend sounchecks; sometimes the crew step in and test the levels. There have been what are known as soundcheck parties where fans have won the chance to be there while the band soundcheck. There was also an occasion back in 2010 when the band were in Liverpool to play one of the Crisis gigs. Fans had been queuing outside in the snow so we decided to invite them in to watch and warm up a little. It was quite amusing as we had to usher fans out before the last song because we didn't want anything to give away the surprise of their special guest. Back For Good was quietly practised before Gary Barlow's arrival.

<title>Coldplay Roadie #42 - Blog #170 (R#42 reports back from the Hollywood Bowl and American Idol)</title>

I’ve got to admit, there just *are* some venues in the world where you just can’t help thinking “This is fucking cool”. I tend to rebel against the more obvious prestige ones, but sometimes everyone raves about how good something is because - well, because it really is that good.

Of course those of you familiar with the Coldplay story (or more likely, familiar with the Live 2003 DVD) will know that Coldplay have played here before. It’s kind of inevitable then, that I’d sit up at the back during the load-in day and reflect on how nine years has changed things...

<title>Coldplay news round-up: Tinie Tempah, B.O.B., Hollywood Bowl merch infringement</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7858</link>
<description>Tinie Tempah has given an update on his progress in recording his second studio album and has revealed that Coldplay's Chris Martin has been &quot;a big influence&quot; on the record, according to the NME this week.

Speaking about the album in this week's NME, which is on UK newsstands and available digitally now, the rapper [pictured] said that his new record has a &quot;progressive quality&quot; and features a number of high-profile guests. Asked if Dizzee Rascal and Chris Martin feature on the follow-up to 'Disc-Overy', Tinie replied: &quot;Everybody who I've said before and who you've mentioned I've been in with, whether they've vocal-ed something or listened to something or even mentored. Chris Martin has been quite an influence on this album.&quot;

Then asked if the record sounded at all like Coldplay, the rapper said: &quot;It's definitely a lot more progressive in the quality of the sound. I've been listening to Lykke Li and Lana Del Rey, the dynamics of the sound, how big and anthemic it gets.&quot;

<title>Hollywood Bowl review 4: No shortage of thrills, Coldplay know how to put on a show (1-4 May)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7857</link>
<description>'99 Problems' blasted from the speakers at the Hollywood Bowl, and the audience turned toward the stage, anxious to see if Jay-Z was going to walk out with a microphone. Screens flashed, telling audience members to put on the wristbands they were handed upon entry. The lights went out. The wristbands started blinking, writes the Daily Bruin in another review of Coldplay's concerts at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night (1st, 2nd &amp; 4th May) published this weekend. Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from the shows at the Coldplay Live forum here (1st), here (2nd) and here (4th) now. Read on for the Daily Bruin review article...

Yes, this was Coldplay’s welcome to the stage at the May 2 Los Angeles show for the Mylo Xyloto tour, and it set the tone for the entire performance: high energy, adrenaline filled, pulse-pounding entertainment. Simply put, a rush of blood to the head. For those who have never attended a Coldplay concert, it is quite possibly one of the most enjoyably exhausting experiences of a lifetime...

<title>Unhappy Coldplayers fall victim to fake Hollywood Bowl ticket scammers</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7856</link>
<description>Some very disappointed Coldplayers who paid top dollar to see Coldplay over the last few days at the Hollywood Bowl ended up getting the cold shoulder instead. People who found some of the tickets on Craigslist, Stubhub, eBay, and other Internet sites -- and paid in the $200-$400 range per seat -- were stunned and disappointed to find that the tickets were fakes. [Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from last night's show at the Coldplay Live forum - Hollywood Bowl night 3 - now.]

The three Coldplay shows were sellouts at the Bowl, and Hollywood Bowl COO Arvinv Manocha conceded it was a very unfortunate situation. &quot;There was nothing we could do for these unlucky people who were bilked,&quot; Manocha said. &quot;Because it was a sellout, there were no other valid tickets to be sold to them.&quot;

The takeaway for these and other fans? Stick with the safety of Ticketmaster, and don't be drawn into &quot;too good to be true&quot; ticket finds on other sites on the Internet, writes the Orlando Sentinel today. By avoiding third-party ticket vendors, fans should be able to avoid the cold reality of fake Coldplay tickets, and fraudulent scams for other shows as well. Read on for some of our Coldplayers' comments from the forums...

<title>Hollywood Bowl review 3: Coldplay cover Fight For Your Right in tribute to Adam Yauch (4 May)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7855</link>
<description>Coldplay have covered the Beastie Boys' song (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) during the third of their three shows at the Hollywood Bowl on Friday night, in a tribute to founding member Adam Yauch [pictured] who died yesterday. You can watch the performance here and here at the Coldplay Live forum now, and also discuss his death here at the World Of Music forum [thanks Tash]

It's not the first time Coldplay have covered this song - remember back in 2009 at the All Points West festival they did exactly the same thing. However, this time it was different as only 24 hours earlier on the 4th May 2012, Adam &quot;MCA&quot; Yauch passed away at the age of 47, following a long battle with salivary gland cancer.

The musician, director and Tibet activist was diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in 2009. Yauch underwent surgery and radiation therapy but said in 2011 reports he was totally cancer-free were &quot;exaggerated&quot;. Under the alias MCA, he formed part of the band that eventually became the Beastie Boys, selling 40 million albums worldwide with Mike D and Ad Roc.

<title>Hollywood Bowl review 2: Coldplay thrills fans with technicolor spectacle (1, 2 &amp; tonight - 4 May)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7854</link>
<description>What an air-tight Technicolor delight Coldplay presented Tuesday night at the Hollywood Bowl, the British quartet’s first of three sold-out shows at the landmark amphitheater, followed by a headlining turn Saturday in Irvine at KROQ’s 20th annual Weenie Roast, writes the OC Register in another review of Coldplay's concerts at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night (1st, 2nd &amp; 4th May). Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from the shows at the Coldplay Live forum here (1st), here (2nd) and here (4th - TONIGHT!) now. Read on for the OC Register review article...

 We knew something fairly spectacular was in store just walking into the venue, at which point scores of assistants clutching thick, DayGlo-colored wristbands approached every patron insisting each pick a color. I snatched a green one, scoffed a bit at its Twitter sponsorship scrawl, then secured it snugly, forgetting all about the memento while enjoying English electro-pop outfit Metronomy’s satisfying warm-up set. Where a watch face might go, these wristbands instead have a small plastic box with a smaller slit along one side. “Cool,” I thought as the lights went out and Jay-Z’s “99 Problems” yielded to John Williams’ theme from Back to the Future. “Maybe I’ll be able to shoot a laser beam from my wrist and feel like a real superhero.”

<title>Reports: Chris Martin reveals years of tinnitus torment</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7853</link>
<description>Chris Martin has been suffering from tinnitus for a decade, according to various UK sources this morning, including the Daily Mail, Mirror and the Huffington Post. You can read more discussion on this story at the Coldplay forum now [thanks lutzno]

Chris, who blames the painful ear condition on listening to loud music as a teenager, is warning youngsters to avoid the same fate. He said the ringing in his ears and headaches had stabilised since he started protecting his ears. After doctors warned him the tinnitus could end his musical career, he began wearing earplugs at concerts and when he is performing.

He said: &quot;Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don’t think about until there’s a problem. I’ve had tinnitus for about ten years, and since I started protecting my ears it hasn’t got any worse – touch wood. But I wish I’d thought about it earlier. Now [the band] always use moulded filter plugs, or in-ear monitors, to try to protect our ears. You can use industrial headphones, but that looks strange at a party.&quot;

<title>It's all happening on the Mylo Xylotour - the latest news stories out of Vancouver, Portland and Los Angeles</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7852</link>
<description>It's all happening on the Mylo Xylotour at the moment. Just ten shows in and already plently of scandal, controversy (not Coldplay's fault of course) and celebrity at some of the early shows for the media to get their teeth into. Remember the slasher news story in Calgary that turned out to be a couple of guys fighting in the concourse near some broken glass... well this week two or three more stories have emerged in relation to recent shows. The tour is certainly bringing about a lot of media attention, not all of it on stage...

Firstly, the Vancouver Sun are reporting that a man has been arrested after Abbotsford police, in a small sting operation, uncovered a scam selling bogus Coldplay concert tickets on Craigslist. Police said they received five complaints in April from would-be concert goers who discovered their Coldplay tickets - selling online for more than $100 each - were fake. One complaint was also made for phony Madonna tickets. A detective set up a meeting yesterday with a 24-year-old Abbotsford man claiming to be selling Madonna tickets online and the tickets were determined to be fraudulent. Const. Ian MacDonald said police expect fraud charges to be laid. No names have been released.

Sometimes, you’re just better off not knowing.

I was in the van after the second San Jose show, thinking to myself what a great time the fellas appeared to be having onstage lately. I couldn’t help but wonder why that was? Are the new songs more energetic, more celebratory? Have the crowd reactions been stronger? Maybe it’s the fact that after six months of promo, actually playing the songs to huge crowds is like a massive shot in the arm? After all, small rooms full of just a few crew and TV cameras can feel a little vibe-less and flat when compared with 15,000 folks making their feelings very much known.

But as I say, ultimately it doesn’t matter why. The fellas are clearly having a properly great time - and the shows have been total belters as a result. San Jose were a pretty damn loud crowd. Perhaps it’s been like this every night and I just spent more time with my earpieces out, taking it all in.

<title>Hollywood Bowl review: Coldplay put on a hell of an entertaining show (1st May)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7850</link>
<description>Chilly Tuesday nights in May isn't exactly what the Hollywood Bowl is all about. But despite the less-than-ideal conditions, Coldplay warmed up the sold out crowd last night with songs off their latest album, Mylo Xyloto, and an assortment of hits, writes the LA Weekly in the first review of Coldplay's concert at the Hollywood Bowl on Tuesday night (1st May). Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from the shows at the Coldplay Live [Hollywood Bowl night 1] forum now. Read on for the LA Weekly review article...

Since the band's 2000 breakthrough with &quot;Yellow,&quot; they've become one of the preeminent voices in modern rock, if also one of the most hated. Singer Chris Martin is almost as well known for his marriage to actress Gwyneth Paltrow and friendship with Jay-Z as for his songs.

But Martin is still concerned with writing songs that appeal to as many people as possible. If Wayne's World were made today, Wayne Campbell's quote, &quot;Led Zeppelin didn't write tunes everybody liked. They left that to the Bee Gees,&quot; would likely substitute Coldplay for the latter. But they probably wouldn't care.

The end of last year saw the release of Coldplay's fifth studio album Mylo Xyloto. The band's latest indie rock hit has helped to boost the joint wealth of Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow to £72 million. David and Victoria Beckham have raised their fortune by £25 million to £190 million in just one year. The former Spice Girl turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham not only received a prize for The Best Designer Brand at The British Fashion Awards, but her three-year-old label won over high-status designers Tom Ford, Burberry and Stella McCartney.

Over in menswear, footballing legend David Beckham boosted his off-pitch earnings when he joined forces with H&amp;M to undertake a new bodywear contract, profiting with a cool £4 million.

<title>San Jose review: Coldplay on top of its game at HP Pavillion (27-28 April)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7846</link>
<description>There's long been one steadfast rule in the touring industry: You don't shoot the confetti cannons until the end of the show. Yet, there we were, just a few minutes into the Coldplay concert on Friday night at HP Pavilion in San Jose, being showered with massive amounts of confetti, writes the Contra Costa Times in a review of two concerts at the HP Pavillion (27th &amp; 28th April). Read on for the Contra Costa review article...

The downpour seemed like it might never stop, as colorful cutouts of various shapes swirled about in the air, obscuring the view of the stage and creating a scene akin to a World Series victory parade. It was truly a climactic moment, one that seemed tailor-made for when a band plays its biggest hit as the final encore of the night. But, in this case, it was actually only the second song of the evening -- &quot;Hurts Like Heaven,&quot; a recent single that never even charted in the U.S...</description>

<title>MTV: Coldplay's official 'Princess Of China' video due third week in May</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7845</link>
<description>MTV are reporting that the official Princess Of China video will be available in the third week of May - the full version that is - not the shortened version that is currently doing the rounds during Coldplay's live US/Canada shows. More discussion on the forthcoming PoC video is at the Princess Of China subforum now. Here's MTV's article...

By now, you've probably seen the video for Coldplay's &quot;Princess of China.&quot; It stars Rihanna as a Shiva-esque deity who waves her (many) arms back and forth in time with the tune but strangely does not actually feature Coldplay themselves. But this Rihanna-starring clip currently making the rounds is actually only taken from Coldplay's live show, spokesperson confirms.

The clip began making the rounds earlier this week and was not only touted as the &quot;official video&quot; but earned raves from fans of both acts. There's only one problem: It is most definitely not the actual &quot;Princess of China&quot; video. In fact, it's part of Coldplay's live show, a video they play during their performance of the song (as several Coldplay aficionados have been pointing out on YouTube). Just to clear up any confusion, we reached out to a spokesperson for the band, who told us in no uncertain terms: &quot;It isn't the official video. ... It is, in fact, a clip that the band are using during their performance of the song on tour.&quot;

<title>Seattle reviews 2 &amp; 3: Coldplay lights up the KeyArena (25th April)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7844</link>
<description>I don't care what anybody says, Coldplay is awesome - Chris Martin is a star and that show last night was incredible - I should probably start at the beginning before I get too deep into my crush on the whole band, writes the Herald Net in another review of Coldplay's concert at the Keyarena, Seattle on Wednesday night (25th April). Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from the shows at the Coldplay Live [Seattle] forum now. Read on for the Herald Net review article...

When I entered KeyArena last night, I was greeted by a very nice ticket taking lady who handed me blue and pink a bracelet that looked like an Easter egg I found once and announced, “You have to wear this. It's part of the show.” I don't like being told what to do but I put it on anyway because it said “Coldplay” on it and everybody else was wearing one. More on these bracelets in a bit. Music played throughout the arena as the stage was being set for Coldplay, much like it does at any venue between sets. Then that music suddenly got louder and unedited version Jay-Z's “99 Problems” began to play...

<title>ET Canada interview preview: Erin Cebula starstruck for Coldplay (part 1 Thursday, part 2 Friday)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7843</link>
<description>As Coldplay leave Canada until later in the year as part of the Mylo Xylotour, Entertainment Canada will have an exclusive interview with Chris and Jonny that will be airing on Thursday with a promised second part on Friday.

You can catch up with all the latest discussion on this forthcoming interview at the Coldplay forum. We'll do our best to find some multimedia for those outside Canada after the airing. In the meantime, you can read their preview article below which was published today, along with a few pertinent photos and tweets... [thanks Blue Nails, Tash]

When you're preparing for an exclusive interview with one of the biggest bands in the world, there are things you do, and things you don't do. Dos include knowing your stuff, eating a good meal and getting plenty of rest the night before. Topping the don'ts list is wearing the wrong bra, trying out a new 'do and getting amped on caffeine. My bra was so so, and yes I did play up the cowlick a little more than normal - but what the hell was I thinking slamming back a double shot Americano one-hour before the interview? Now, I could blame my sweaty palms on an innocent barista or I could just be honest with myself and with you. Coldplay has sold close to 60 million albums... and this is a big deal.

<title>Seattle review 1: Coldplay concert's stunning visuals at KeyArena overshadow music (25th April)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7841</link>
<description>Rock band Coldplay performed a visually stunning concert at KeyArena Wednesday, but the special effects somewhat overshadowed the authenticity of the music, writes the Seattle Times in a review of Coldplay's concert at the Keyarena, Seattle last night (25th April). Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from the shows at the Coldplay Live [Seattle] forum now. Read on for the Seattle Times review article...

There was a moment during Coldplay's KeyArena concert when singer Chris Martin did the seemingly impossible: He ended &quot;Paradise&quot; on the main stage, and moments later began singing &quot;Us Against the World&quot; standing near the back of the hall in the cheap seats. He managed it by being in good enough shape to sprint 100 yards, but also because the clean-cut Martin can easily fit into the landscape of his audience.

Everyman populism has always been at the core of Coldplay's success, and that was abundant at the band's sold-out show Wednesday at KeyArena. The band delivered 90 minutes of hits, complete with state of the art production that rivaled a Broadway show. Those effects started during &quot;Hurts Like Heaven&quot; when wristbands given to the audience began to blink, making the crowd appear like a Lite-Brite toy whenever the band cued up certain songs. Soon, confetti machines filled the sky. During &quot;Major Minus,&quot; a cascade of beach balls followed.

<title>Portland review: Coldplay bloom at the Rose Garden (24th April)</title>
<link>http://www.coldplaying.com/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=7840</link>
<description>Chris Martin seems nice. This is something that is written almost every time he does an interview, and was especially prevalent in the coverage last fall when his band, Coldplay, released their latest record, &quot;Mylo Xyloto, writes the Oregon Live in another review of two concerts at the Rose Garden in Portland (24th April). Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from the shows at the Coldplay Live forum now. Read on for the Oregon Live review article...

USA Today led with how Martin turned tables and energetically questioned the questioner. The New York Times was fond of how he apologized for being late when he was five minutes early. Seems like a relatively normal guy. Highly likable, which sounds like an awful thing to say about a rock star, but isn't. He probably does understand &quot;all the crap&quot; fans had to go through to see Coldplay at the Rose Garden on Tuesday night. All &quot;the money, and the parking. And we hope we don't let you down,&quot; he said.

April 25, 2012 - submitted by Lauren, United Kingdom
Q. Are there any songs the guys have wrote about themselves as a band or are there any songs about anyone in the band beside Chris?
The Oracle replies:
I think many of us know that Green Eyes was partly written about Jonny (awwww) and although songs have been written for and inspired by people close, I think that's the only one. I do recall that Help Is Around the Corner - the b side to Yellow - was written about the band's situation whilst recording the first album during their studio stint at Parr St, Liverpool.

Q. Hey Oracle, what happen with the Coldplay puppets?
The Oracle replies:
They were sold with proceeds going to charity. Chris the puppet emails me* to tell me where they are and he even has a MX costume now that the new owner had made for him. *I am NOT joking!
